 Overview
 Description
Co-ordinates: N38°01.821' E023°45.252' (in WGS84)

This water tower is situated right next to the Attica Water and Sewage Company (an active site, very well guarded and secured with really tall fences). This particular water tower must have been part of the original grounds at one time -- it's at the top of a hill. It must have been disused for some time. It's been physically severed from the water grid, and the pump house stripped.

It's an ugly but unusual water tower, rectangular and low depth. All the pipes leading up to it are tarred, making them look black and ugly (but they photograph lovely on black & white film). There's a tiny pump house underneath it, with corroded spiral stairs leading up to its roof. From there, a catwalk leads to a further spiral stair that goes to the top. This limits access to the top of the tower, but the door to the pump house is open. The stairs are badly corroded and I would strongly recommend not attempting to climb up there.

I visited this site on my way to another one (which turned out to be a complete disappointment). It's an easy one if you don't attempt to climb up.

I was alone, without any safety gear, so I didn't even try. The view from up there must be very impressive though.

One good aspect of this site is that the view from the top wouild include the active site next door. You'd be able to see a lot and perhaps plan a visit if you like that sort of thing.
