Confirmed no basement on 2nd trip. Place is falling apart at a much faster rate now. Maybe from three hurricanes in a row :( There is some paranormal activity inside and out, and a strong feeling of "despair" on the first floor. This place feels as if it closed yesterday. You go into a cold sweat when you enter the lower floors, then all the hairs on your body stand up as you enter the the corridors of the 1st floor. It's crazy in there. If you are superstitious, be careful when inside. There is "presence" in this place and I am not kidding. The whole place feels like it's "vibrating" with energy, intensifying as you reach the bowels of the building. Apparently at 11:53pm on some evenings the place "comes to life" and you hear the noises you would typically hear in an operational hospital like rolling carts, walking nurses, talking nurses, coughing from TB, moving gurneys, etc. No electronic beeps though :)

welded doors wooden boarding Looks formidable, but pretty easy to get into through several access points. Just watch out for HCC security and maintenence. Oh...and the FDLE and JDC are adjacent to the property so don't wander around those buildings.

Opened by the US Government in the 1940's as a tuberculosis hospital, WT Edwards was given to the State of Florida in 1947 with the provision that it operate as a TB hospital for 5 years. It was then sold in the 1950's to the Florida Department of Children and Families as a center for operations in Florida. The first floor was later leased to USF for storage. USF pulled out in 1998 and it has been boarded up ever since. The 250,000+ square foot property and the 26 acres it sits on is now owned by Hillsborough Community College, purchased for $3.8 Million in June of 2003. It is slated for demolition for more classrooms and parking.

Slated for demolition in the near future to build more classrooms and parking for Hillsborough Community College. I noticed that there are markers in the ground around the building. Maybe the surveyors are getting it ready for demolition? Then again, people have been surveying for demolition in Sunland Tallahassee since the mid 80's
