  •  Interesting Features
Pretty much your run of the mill drive-in, but when I got to the projection room, the two large projectors were there. Once floor mounted, celluloid reading monsters, they were laying on their sides, almost like two old men that had tired of standing. Their kind, a dying breed of servants to the entertainment industry, replaced by the conveniece of rentals of the latest DVD releases.

     History
Information sent in by a contributer, "William":
Just the facts, regarding the Border Drive-in Theatre in Bainsville, Ontario. My parents built that drive-in in 1964 and operated it until 1978 . It was sold and then closed permanently by the new owners in 1981.

Also The correct name is Border Drive-In Theatre and not Border Curry Hill Drive-In.

The Curry Hill Drive-in was a separate property a few miles away. It played French language films predominantly and we played English films. The Curry-Hill Drive-in closed a couple of years before ours. It was demolished immediately to be a parking lot for the truck-stop across the street. The owners that bought our Border Drive-in simply abandoned the property and that's why people think there was only one drive-in .

It bothered me enough to write out of respect for my parents that built the Border-drive-in by hand. They started with nothing and that property has very fond memories for me as it was instrumental in providing our family with a good life.
