     History
In 1911 the Messrs.Vickers Ltd. build their naval factory in the east of Montreal. The company soon became the biggest in Canada, employing around 2000 men. The company not only had a workshop but also drydocks, boat factory and a now demolished office building.

The last ship builded by the Vickers was the Icebreaker NORMAN McLEOD ROGERS in 1969, Ship repairs went on until about 1979 and until 1989, Canadian Vickers was manufacturing reactors and other components for American submarines.

William Arrols of Clyde was the Architect for the contruction of the shop while McArthur, Pile & Foundation Co., N-Y. did the work.

     Future Plans
As long as the soils are not cleaned up, a big pile of junk will probably stay there for decades.
