  Stupid me... This is the spillway to drain the entire lake (they do that occasionally, like once every 40 years) for dam maintnance...

  I've kayaked "under" or downstream of several hydro dams, and standing here is NOT safe!! I've seen and surfed the waves of water when a hydro dam gets remotely opened, it's not a pleasant stream, more like a several foot tall wave. (See later warning pic in this album)
