| | | This is an abandoned drive in that has not been functional for about 20 years probably. It is an amazing location and a great place for reflecting. You can get inside the huge screen and climb to the top which I had to save for another time. The concession area provides some interesting sights, especially depending on the natural lighting of the day you go. The field that once held the cars is growing over with the wildness, and in the side of the field is an abandoned car. I saw movies here when I was a child and it holds a very warm place in my heart. It is in a rural area, near train tracks, and right near lake Erie as well. When I went back here for the first time since my childhood I had an extremely profound moment. It was in late February/early March of 2007 and the air was very crisp and buzzing. Snow was starting to fall and there were cracks in the sky that allowed small slivers of light to shine down. I was at the concession area taping the large screen and just staring and it hit me. I started hearing the ghosts of this place. I thought of all the people this place brought joy to in its time, all the young couples sharing Friday night together, all the families watching together, I heard the film reels play in my head, and could see the glow return to the screen. Trains that came by got a few seconds of a heaven and they did not even know it. [last edit 3/16/2011 1:34 AM by Decayed_Beauty - edited 1 times]

| | | Very nice set. Seems quite an interesting find there. Don't see a lot of drive-ins anymore [last edit 3/16/2011 5:57 AM by abandonedfreak - edited 1 times]

| | | Very cool, the only one I've been to had no buildings, just the screen. It's even cooler that you were able to experience it when it was up and running. I actually found my first home was abandoned. No pics, I went back before I called this 'urbex'. Someday I'll return with a camera.

I completely agree. I have a deep personal affinity with abandoned spaces in general, so any time I get in to one I just like to sit there and reflect. Even the worst buildings have more comfort to give me than most people. I always tend to pass a good chunk of hours in a building.

Being able to be a part of its history certainly adds a lot to this space, or any space. I have been inside the screen and it is interesting, I just have not gotten good pics yet, nor have I climbed to the top of the screen. Those will be coming soon though! look forward to those pics of your house ;)

| | | Abandoned Freak ventured out to my neck of the woods and I showed him a few of the local tourist attractions and took a few more shots myself, including shots from the top of the drive in screen.
