Blue Ghost tunnel

Hello there. I've been lurking on the site on-and off over the past couple of months...

It's been a while since my last visit, but I seem to remember there being a section on this site that had pictures of the Blue Ghost tunnel in Thorold. Maybe I'm wrong, or it's a level 2/3 thing.

I was thinking of visiting that site sometime this summer to take pictures and video. I know there isn't much to see, but the creep factor is pretty high from what I understand.

Has this area been photographed for this site before? Is it a waste of my time?

Oh, also, if I do figure out how to post the pictures I take, do I need webspace to host them, or are the pictures hosted on this server?

Thanks for any info you guys can impart upon me.

No exploration is a waste of time! Knock yourself out! As to pictures, I think there might be pictures, let me check.

Okay, I don't see it in the LDB. Maybe it's just not under Thorold, but I don't think it's there. I remember seeing a thread about it a while ago, but I guess it's not in the LDB.

And as for photos in posts, you can either upload photos or store them on a server. There's an "attatch an image" button below the post box. Below the area I'm typing in right now.

Oh, and if you mean in the LDB, yeah, they're all hosted on the UER server.

It's listed under it's real name - Great Western Rail tunnel - under Thorold's entry in the LDB.

Hmm Thorold doesn't show up for me in the LDB, my guess is it's a level 3 thing.
First I'll visit the place and take the pictures, then I'll worry about getting them in the LDB, or just in a regular ole post.

Thanks for the information guys!

I was at the Blue Ghost Tunnel 2 weeks ago, and it was a great site to see ( check out the pics) The only thing I couldn't figure out was where the tunnel came out at the other end. The path is filled with water and you cant exit.
Trying to find it on the outside is just as hard due to brush growth and water

Hi Guys. The pic of the entrance of this tunnel is familiar-looking. Is this site near the "Showers" building, just east of the 4th and latest Welland Canal, and part of the Old canal System? If it is, I was there, and the other end of the tunnel is very easily walked-through. It actually goes below the Old Canal (this stretch of waterway was part of the Second and Third Welland Canals).
cheers

The other end of the Tunnel is submerged in a few feet of water except in winter months. I was there the other day and met some guy named Dave from nagscanada, he goes there to clean all the graffiti off the walls and report names to the Canal Security. He was pretty cool and told us about the tunnel.

Hey there, new to the site, VERY interesting stuff LOVE IT.
If you are interested in getting to the East End of the tunnel, let me know.
It's not easy to find, even during the day, you pretty much have to be right on top of it to see it, very well covered. And it's not really where you would expect it to be. Here is a pic of the east end...

And just noticed AUDI's post, Dave is a good guy and spends a LOT of man hours of his free time cleaning that tunnel and removing the "ArtWork"
Wish I would have been there to meet you that day Audi.
Thanks for the kind words by the way.

Looks like they are not going to block the other end though. I do not live in the area, but I am sure the other end is not all that inaccessible. It is a damn shame that they are going to close it, but sometimes it is for the better because that way, no stupid people get hurt.

".... tunnel visitors will be greeted by a concrete block wall and a locked door."

Locked door huh? How long will that last.
Its just an old tunnel and a bunch of wives tales.

"Blue Ghost Tunnel" is not the same as "Screaming Tunnel" that's featured in the 1983 movie Dead Zone) I assume.

http://hamiltonpar...om/screaming1.html

P.S. sorry. It's not the same, definitely. R.I.P. Blue Ghost Tunnel. Maybe in 50 years a new crop of urban explorers will discover it again when the wall starts crumbling.
