A huge abandoned steam winch in the woods near the Fore River Bridge in Quincy, MA. I did some research and found it was once used to pull large boats and ships up on the shore for repair.

| | | Awesome pics dude. That's like something straight out of a Jules Verne novel. Then again, I'm a big steampunk fan, so stuff like that gets me excited ;)

| | | The winch is next to the parking lot at the Bay Pointe Marina. Drive in and as soon as you see the boats, it's on the right (behind some boats). I heard it was used to pull ships close to the shore for repairs.

| | | Thanks for the photos, I'm trying to get my boss to buy it for moving freight cars. We have a siding that is often blocked by other trains, so it's difficult to get the locomotive in there to move cars short distances. Anyhow, I offered my railroad as a tour at NEOPEX.
