So i have seen several set of photos of the Titan 2B site, and i know the 2C site south of elizabeth is now basically a garbage dump.
I am curious however, has anyone been into any of the silos near the former lowry bombing range, and if so what condition are they in?

I've been in three of the six silos in the eastern plains... The two other than deer trail offer significant challenges to get in to. Be careful.

1A is accessible if you are willing to seriously trespass. Additionally, you have to rappel ~20 meters down an air shaft to gain entry.

Worth it though.

Stop telling people they have to rappel, you can climb down with ease.

whysoserious: You should look online and find out where they used to be, and find out their condition for yourself. Water levels are always changing, some silos are easier to get to than others.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't like the idea of crawling down I-beams spaced many feet apart above a pit of suspiciously bright blue water. Plus, rappelling is more fun!

Thanks guys.
Ive known where they all are for quite a while, spent a bored weekend on google maps finding them, but i couldn't find much info on the current conditions inside, which is why i am asking here.

And the rappelling isn't an issue, I've been rappelling of off stuff for quite a while now, and over the past couple years I've had some extra training from a rope rescue perspective on rigging and anchoring. I kinda figured it would take some rappelling, but getting in isn't really what I'm concerned about, just don't want to spend a bunch of time getting inside one, only to find all the cool stuff flooded out.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

I'm not going to deny the feasibility of just climbing down, but rappelling is just so much more bad ass, and you can't with good conscious trust the internal structure that is very much rusted over-- but to be fair sturdy. If that structure gives, or you slip, you fall into the murky abyss of a dead animal, dirt, and all sorts of other nasty-I-don't-even-want-to-think-about-it infested water. It can't be good for you.

Oh BTW, I'm sorry for frequently going off topic, but I just couldn't resist but mention I watched The Dark Knight two nights in a row at The Esquire last weekend. It was a really well done movie, Mark Hamil's voice acting in the old 90's cartoons will always be my favorite rendition of the Joker, but Keith Ledger did a really fantastic job too. Has anyone ever noticed how the villains in super hero cartoons always have abandoned factories or abandoned industrial-isque establishments as their secret hideouts? I could be a super villain if it means squatting in really cool places all the time. Seriously, those people just break out of prison and find a different squat er'time. They have a knack for it.

I'd watch your back too with the titans... I've been shot at once, and there might or might not be an alarm system of sorts on another one.

On the subject of repelling, yep... much more bad ass.

Three out of the six Titan complexes are Impossible to access. 2b you walk right in. Owner doesn't even live on that piece of land. But there are also 4 atlas missle bases. One has been restored the other three I'm not sure of.
