| | | This is my first post here, any advise or tips are welcome. I came across this abandoned shopping center not to far from where i live, it once housed a grocery store, pharmacy and several small stores which a pizzeria and dry cleaners where there the whole time i remember, due to surrounding competition and and decline in business the grocery chain after being bought out closed this location, next the pharmacy was also bought out and due to another store several miles down the road that was soon to expand this location was closed. at some point the dry cleaners closed leaving the pizzeria. due to hurricane damage from Ivan in 2004 the pizzeria was forced to close and the center has been boarded up since. recently part of the building was demolished to make way for a access road and stoplight or the neighboring movie theatre. i had a chance to explore that part of the building before being closed up again (only got as far as the restaurant before losing light and not being prepared). from what i understand the owner is fighting to get money from the insurance company and till that happens the building will sit and wait for its final demise. neighbors have been complaining about the eyesore and growing rat population that has been living in the construction debris behind the center. this was from a recent exploration i did, i hope to get back and take more interior shots, anyone want to join me feel free to let me know. any questions message me .. thanks [last edit 12/4/2011 12:06 PM by gbguy - edited 1 times]

| | | one thing is people on here tend to hate the pop-up photo...thing. generally better to host from flickr or a similar site. i'm kind of surprised there's still stuff around with damage from ivan, just because of that insane real estate boom that followed immediately after... cool. | | | looks like a fun place, rats are good eatin too! and yeah, the pop-ups do suck. as said, flickr or photobucket for sure.
When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store. |

| | | thanks for the advise, i will try and use one of them next time. The area has really bounced back since the hurricane, theres very little trace of any damage left. [last edit 12/5/2011 4:49 AM by gbguy - edited 1 times]

| | | Ha, funny, I was told the exact opposite when posting my photos. I'm rather fond of Google's galleries. I tried Flickr but apparently they have a 300mb limit unless you pay for pro... No thanks. Awesome pics!

| | | Loving that open grease trap... hopefully someone covered that up too. That's a serious hazard.
Mmmm... the sweet smell of damp concrete. <3 |

| | | Nice set of pictures, this place has been going down hill for years. I remember going there for things with my parents when I was a kid. The pizza place before the last pizza place had good pizza.
