Logging Campus in Northeast Boulder

This site ( 40.03027,-105.210349 ) has probably been explored before due to it's close proximity to Boulder, but I thought I'd share my photos of it.

There is a site adjacent to this one that has an old silo and some sheds, one of which was the setting for some steamy action apparently, and the lovers didn't want to keep that to themselves. You can view photos of that site here: http://www.uer.ca/...urrpage=1&pp#post0

The last time I was this site was over a year ago when I lived in Boulder, so I apologize if this post is not as detailed as you'd like.

I've been there once in the day, and once at night. I only took pictures during the day run, and they are mainly of the exterior of the buildings. I saved exploring the interiors for the night run so as to attract less attention. Sorry no photos for the night run. Didn't want to attract any attention with the camera flash as there is a road bordering this site.

I recorded a video run of one of the buildings which can be viewed here: http://www.youtube...atch?v=SonfnG5chVM It ends abruptly due to my battery dying.

The night run was...very interesting. The white office building (40.030438,-105.208997) was just full of weird stuff. Stacks of ski magazines strewn all over the floor, dissembled computers, hundreds of square foot silica discs, and this camp must have had a daycare for the workers children because there was a room full of children's drawings and masks.

The main industrial complex is very interesting. I'm not exactly sure what went on there? It's composed of many buildings. Working your way up from the south there is a machines shop area filled with huge drills, concrete mixers, work benches, and other unknown tools. North of that are two multi-story buildings, each containing a massive piece of machinery. North of that is one large empty holding tank, and several smaller tanks to the east of large one.

There are several other buildings in the area, as well as an old cemetery. This site is definitely worth checking out. I definitely will the next time I'm there.

The old steam shovel is one of the coolest artifacts there!

Very cool location. Do you remember any of the dates in the cemetery?

"Is that the entrance to the drain?" "Yeah" "It's right behind the police station." "Oh. Maybe we should go to a different one..."

Unfortunately I didn't explore the graveyard. But there's a big stone that says "In memory of Boulder County Pioneers"

If you go, you're bound to find some interesting stuff. If you do, take some pictures and share them with us.

I'm going back home (which is Denver) for Thanksgiving and Christmas, and I think I might hit this site up again while I'm there.

Interesting read. Wonder if they are still trying to get the 3 million for it?

Blah Blah Blah. Shut up and open the damn door.
"It's ok Officer, I watch a lot of cop shows on tv, so i am practically one of you guys." - sadly, that didn't work.

Hello and Thank you everyone for the information and photos. I have been interested in radioactive areas and historical sites in Colorado. This hit on both marks as it is the location is a sacred site of Chief Niwots tribe. He told early goldminers in 1858 of "The curse of Boulder Valley" not far from this location. The followup link of information about contamination is a valuable resource. Top Secret dealings behind the scenes of a faction of the US government sending Uranium from Colorado and other locations to the Soviet Union with plans from Oak Ridge Tennessee to start building the Soviet Atomic program in 1943 have my attention. Colorado has interesting history, and it is important that UEs know which areas are safe to explore. Thanks again Joeamerica

I've always wanted to have extra limbs and stuff of that sort. Maybe I'll go explore. Geneboy, you interested?

Haha, I'm writing a paper on women's rights.
..... not that women's rights are funny or anything.
