My suggestion - start with the basics. Just shoot what you like. If you employ creativity, ingenuity, and a unique approach to your work, you don't necessarily have to have a huge portfolio of model/nude work to have people approach you, or at least be willing to work with you. Start simple - get a portfolio going - and don't be afraid to show it off/ask for advice.

Thanks for the thoughtful and helpful post. I have enjoyed photography for many years now, and thoroughly enjoy it. Finding a new aspect to it is my next goal, as I have photographed the same things from every angle and condition I can imagine.
