I like that in the closed store openings, there are murals of store insides. Probably great if you just like to look in windows and not buy anything.

There's a mall like that out here. For years and years, it was pretty much an operational abandonment. Then they put in an AMC theater, which is really the only draw to the place now.

AMC got a great deal on that location, too. There was a crane accident (blew over during a storm) which crushed the mall during remodeling for the theater. The mall owners gave AMC two years of free rent to keep them from pulling out of the deal. And from what I hear, if the mall occupancy rate drops below a certain percentage (I think it was something like 75%), the theater doesn't pay rent either.

I imagine this is what caused the mall owners to seal off the entire lower level of the mall, flagging it as non-retail space to *try* to ensure they don't dip below that threshold.

That's how bad that mall is doing.

I know the exact mall you're talking about, used to live nearby. Originally it was taken over by the asians and the operating theme was to turn it into an all asian mall like they've done with other parts of the area. All the good places pulled out when their leases were up and were not renewed. Fail.

This mall in Florida looks awesome. What are you doing hanging out in the public areas and the parking lot? Go infiltrate the hidden corners and dark spooky bits behind the curtains. See a door that says staff only? Go in! Check it out! Somebody else coming down the hall? Start grabbing your crotch and ask where the bathroom is? UE the hell out of it!

Honesty may be the best policy, but it's important to remember that apparently, by elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy. -George Carlin (1937 - 2008)

Been behind the scrims. Pretty boring, really. Ran into a skater that had been skating at the indoor skate park and wanted to get away. Cool guy, boring building. You can simply walk right through the scrims.

The reason this place stays afloat are the anchors. There's a Vans skate park, a somewhat large theatre, a Ron Jon, and a Western wear store. It's a really cool place to people watch, but is otherwise pretty boring. Next time I'm down there, I'll snap some pictures.
