Worst condition?

Just curious on what peoples experiences are on the worst condition of a location you've been to? What was it and what makes a location go from ok to destroyed in your opinion? For me it was a secondary location of the day where the hotel was absolutely destroyed. It really wasn't decay anymore, it was destruction and a health hazard. This place actually made me call in sick the next day.

I think that if some good basic supplies aren't good enough for a site, that would draw the line for me.
Respirator, good shoes, gloves, first aid, lights, multitool would cover it. If anything else was needed, I'd probably not go. Rope work is a no-go for me, and I don't have waders.

I think the longer you explore the further you'll push that line.

Probably, I'd go in a place where you'd probably want waders if I was wearing shorts, or not jeans. I guess the only thing I wouldn't do would be something that involved rappelling.

Nothing has stopped me yet, not mold, decay, asbestos, police or hobo. Except this one house that had a massive spiderweb spanning the front doorway.

For fuck's sake I hate spiders.

Demolished? Arsoned? Tagged to shit? Collapsed? Falls that could kill you? Black Mold that makes you cough blood?

All of the above and then some, the first three, in that order, are the worst.

Bet you won't lick it

But, to answer the topic, what is the topic? What about a building makes you unwilling to explore it? That's my best guess.
In my case, it's too much sophisticated security. I HATE PIR DETECTORS.

I wanted to get into this house so bad. But the only way in was through the hole on the right of this photo.

And I was terrified to walk around because the inside looked like this.

I was afraid if I opened any of the doors or blinked too hard, the whole thing would fall down on my head. I took all my photos from the outside.

i agree with this idea. something where i feel it will literally come down on me or ill go down with it i don't chance anymore. risked it once for a house and fell through the damn floor because of it. fuck that noise, never again

My foot went through a floor once but that was my own stupidity. I knew the floor was dangerous, and I was very careful on the first floor but started getting distracted as I walked upstairs and stopped paying attention. I put my foot down without looking and CRUNCH. It was worth it though, I love the photos I got.

I found a heavily fire-damaged house that had very stable floor. I was cautious of course but I was surprised at how strongly it was built...

Exploring a location under demolition is always exciting. Especially when you are 3 stories up and hear/feel the floor groan/shift under your weight.

That counts as in bad condition...right?

I can see that after a lot of explores you get a bit mor brazen with what you are willing to do/try. The original post picture, well it would have been interesting had the place not been so trashed. The person I was with said that the location wasn't worth it because of the destruction.

So far this was the only floor that I thought it was a bad idea to cross. Too many gaping holes in the ceiling and floor. I'm part of my companies Health & Safety committee, so there's the "go check it out" person in my head and the "that's not safe" angels on my shoulders.

Love to see more pictures of what places you went for it and it was ok, or when you went for it and it was a bad idea.

Nothing says "worst condition" like a mine that's collapsing. Here's a fork in the tunnel, with cave-ins in both directions:

This same mine has a room, maybe 25'x25', with a single wooden post in the middle to hold up the ceiling... except there's a 3' gap above the top of the post, because the ceiling's already collapsed around it.

Our progress was blocked by another rock fall... we could see beautiful explorable tunnel through a hole on the rocks, but the pile was so loose that it wasn't safe to squeeze through.

This is two mines away... see that flat rock on the ground, in the center of the picture? It fell on me. Luckily it didn't fall very far, and my Camelbak cushioned the blow:

A lot of the mines around here are stable, and fairly safe to explore... but some (like these two) are in crumblier rock, and can be downright scary in places.

While many locations I've visited in the past have been in bad condition, this is probably the worst as far as structural integrity is concerned:

It kind of softly folds into itself...
