| | | Nothing too too terribly exciting here, just some pretty scenery and interesting history. I can't find any history on this road or bridge anywhere on the net, but according to some of the local yokels (aka Stankweeed), waaaaaaaayyyy back in the day it was the only crossing across the Greenbelt, and now there are more bypasses, so this narrow old road was closed and the bridge abandoned. The property lines in 1993 were already divvied up around the road, and now that the road is closed forever, nobody ever bothered to re-zone the land so now, it makes for an interesting hike. I would love it if someone could dig up more info on this place, it's off of Burger Lane in Aubrey, Texas. 1. Like everything in Texas, it's been hit by a shotgun multiple times.
2. The "road" is little more than a 10-15 foot wide strip of unmowed grass. If you look close at the ground though you can still see asphalt here and there.
3. Most of the asphalt has broken up into gravel
4. Horse farms line both sides of the road and nobody could care less that we were there
5. This guy came charging out of the woods towards us and I damn near pepper sprayed him, but it turned out after he charges you, he's pretty friendly.
6. Interesting artifacts
7. There was at one time an old culvert bridge here, when they closed the road they dug up the culvert and just left it.
8. Shit guys, pack it up, an unlocked gate with no fence on either side of it. No way we're getting around this one.
9. Nothing could possibly go wrong here
10. The bridge
11. Cool!
12. Stankweeed and one of the piers
13. Stankweeed has the secret ability to levitate when around neo-nazi graffiti
14. Not much of the bridge left
15. Thing was pretty big at one point
16. On the way out we were assaulted by this little shit. He was a lot meaner than the shepherd.

Exactly! When I visited as a kid I remembered Oklahoma as the place with bullet hole signs.

| | | Looks like I know the history on this one! This was a bridge of no particular fame except that it was used by Bonnie and Clyde in their getaway after robbing Pilot Point bank

| | | Stay off bridge? Here in Oklahoma, that would still be a functioning bridge...

Same here. That was a good one. And I laughed at the levitation comment too. I like old bridges, for some reason. Old bridges and old roads. Weird, but I do. Nice find.

| | | Funny as it may be, he's right... Weve got a gallery for an abandoned section of turnpike thats every bit as good or better than some of the functional roads around here...

When I was 17 I was exploring an old cabin in the back woods around Ray Roberts and I ran into a feral dog with a litter of pups... Got away with a nasty bite but intact, still got a little scar on my right arm, now hidden under tattoos lol. Ever since then I never go ANYWHERE sketchy or rural without a can of wasp spray, it'll blind anything with eyes, it's cheap as dirt, and it's not as harmful as pepperspray.
