Denver Draining Meetup! - Episode 2
< on 3/12/2011 1:39 AM >
Posted on Forum: UER Forum

I organized a draining trip last November, and I think I can safely say everyone had a blast! My life has getting a little less crazy recently, so I'm looking into getting all of us awesome people together again to hit up even more drains! Here's a group shot of us on the churn blocks in Rivergate Hollows:

In lieu of the a successful 11-person-4-drain marathon last November, who all would be interested in having a little meet-up in the coming weeks to explore a few more underground halls of greatness under Denver?

I'm willing to coordinate and organize again if we get enough interest!

I'd like to come - even though I'm a n00b. I have an older UERer (circa 2004) that can vouch for me not being a jackass if need be.

Photo from walkin' around Five Points today...

Did some scopin' yesterday and stumbled upon this little lady.

I'm sure she's probably well known around these boards, but looked interesting to me.

That's Rivergate, and boy is it cool! I'd say that's probably one of the single best drains in Denver, if not just for its sheer size.

Fun Fact: The picture at the top of this thread is from the pictured drain.

I can do next weekend, but this weekend (18th and 19th) is not particularly good for me. I wouldn't be free until after 10 or 11pm probably.

Count me in, I'm free weekends. I may bring a friend too if that's cool.

"Is that the entrance to the drain?" "Yeah" "It's right behind the police station." "Oh. Maybe we should go to a different one..."

Just came back from a drain mentioned, permit me out of enthusiasm to post a few. I hope to make it to the meet, but need to see a work sked first. But all I can say is WOW, it's so nice to not have to fight through silt, and to be able to stand erect for such distances. It really is a drug of it's own to be in that atmosphere. You may recognize (barely) some people. (My thanks to them).

1. Mesmerizing:

2). some kind of monkey lurking underground:

3) some place to wash the dishes from the taco stand I want to open in here:

4) someone trying to escape from a quartered off, contained space:

5) choices, and all erect-walkable

That's prolly more than enough as it's not my thread, so excuse the poor form, but I really needed this "fix" right about now. Hope to come to the meet.

Stoked on this trip! Not to be a douche but lets keep these locations under raps as far as pictures of entrances with names go, these places are just to great to jeopardize for the other explorers. Let's meet up!

Naming a location in a photo won't cause a grate to appear over it. Nothing is more annoying in a UE community than keeping locations as some sort of secret information you can only obtain by walking the Platte for 10 hours or knowing somebody. Don't get me wrong, a degree of stealth is warranted, but that's why we have the Full Member system.

What I mean to say is, if you actually mean to protect the location, I can understand the intention, though I find there are better ways to do that. But, the unfortunate reality is that many people use the guise of 'security' to keep locations to themselves or their special friend group, making them feel more important or somesuch. I don't really know why people do it, but it happens, and it sucks!

Maybe it's just the inner hipster in all of us, but from my experience it does actually take alot of skill and alot of luck to randomly stumble onto a very cool place, and once you share the location with someone, they share it with someone else, and so on and pretty soon you get drunk retards at places you like to visit being reckless and retarded operating under the guise of urban exploring. It's just kind of disappointing seeing pretentious newbies muck around in places that took time and effort to find.
