Be careful with TBM projects; they're often manned 24/7. Not always, but keep that in mind. Have fun.

Found this on the infrastructure canada website....
Although some preliminary construction has already begun, the ceremony today marked the beginning of excavation of a 1075 metre tunnel, which will run from the corner of Sackville Street and Lower Water Street to the Halifax sewage treatment plant (STP) site at the intersection of Barrington Street and Cornwallis Street. The tunnel concept was selected to minimize the disruption to business in downtown Halifax during the construction of the sewage collection system and to not jeopardize any future development potential of the Cogswell Interchange lands.

A tunnel-boring machine will bore an access shaft, approximately six metres in diameter and 25 metres deep to connect to the tunnel. At the end of this construction phase, the only visible sign of the access shaft and the tunnel will be a plate roughly the size of a manhole cover.

I missed my last chance to go into a tbm project, but I can't imagine any excuse if you're caught. Think hard about timing and apparel. Do mark the manhole's future location on your maps.

Could you give us the URL of the page that had this information? Also, could you tell me the page that had the diagram in your first post, if it's on a different page? I'd like to explore this further.

I work in construction in NB, and I find that if you have a hardhat, work boots, some safety glasses, and maybe a clipboard in hand, you can go pretty much anywheres. Wont work if you are wandering about a army base, ha! But if you look the part, nobody ask's questions because your just another face. If you are really trying to get places, you can say your with a company (maybe the contractor, or a architect), Have some papers printed like the above links giving a blueprint look, and a good story. Just a thought if you are trying to get a step closer to adventure, yet keeping the police out of it.
