Out Late On a School Night

So last night I went out and did some long exposure with my fancy tripod that I rarely used until I got my fancy camera. So yeah, I wanna know what you all think of them.

this isnt actually from that same day, but it matches the next picture, which is.

Its good that you're experimenting. That crooked light post is killing me though.

Well if I straightened it then the bike and the buildings in the back would be crooked and that would be a million times worse.

You got the white balance right on #2, very natural looking, but on #3 it's way too orange.

My white balance is on auto, cause I'm not really sure how to properly use it.

Straightening is more than just rotating left or right. ;)

What do you use for processing? Photoshop?

edit: actually, you can straighten that particular photo pretty easily using Picnik in Flickr. [actions, edit photo in Picnik, rotate, straighten]

I dont really process much. I use Picasa for simple edits, and thats about it, but I do have Photoshop CS4.

Photoshop CS4.

Filter, lens correction, transform (or similar).

Change the angle to 2.5. Vertical perspective to +6. (that's my quick take, I'm not really that fantastic at this AND I use different software that allows me to cheat a bit).

Is there a tutorial somewhere that has the basics to straightening other than rotating the picture? Also, what software do you use?

Better yet. Take the shot right to begin with. Go back out and shoot it again please. Trust me. If you don't rely on photoshop to fix your mistakes, you will become a better photographer.
... I know for a fact that you could have straitened that pole in the lens. Proof? #1 is leaning one way, #2 is leaning the other way. Please be more careful when composing.

Alright thanks, next time I'll make sure that everything in the picture is aligned, not just the ground, or something that I chose as a reference point. As for taking the shot again, I took this shot right after it stopped snowing, and by now all that snow has melted. But I'll keep your advice in mind when I'm taking any shot. Thanks for the help.
