IDLE Chatter.

Nice to meet some of you at the meetup last week. It occurred to me that in the WEEKS that go by without a blip in this area forum, there might as well be at least a casual chatter thread whether it's filled with insider jokes or not.
It seems like there is the wait for an INCIDENT or something. So, therefore, it seems like it wouldn't be that horrible to say "purple monkey dishwasher".

Ah, I missed the meet up. Totally slipped my mind. An idle chatter thread? There aren't any other ones?Hm... I'm down for an idle chatter thread.

Y'know something that can always spark conversation? Colorado weather. It's chaotic to say the least. It's also been very nice lately, what do you guys think?

I've recently taken an interest in paranormal activity. Subconsciously I must have always had an interest. Every single building I've explored always had one thing in common, a creepy basement.

There is just something uncanny about a mildly chilly, poorly lit, subterranean sub level of an old abandoned building-- That I love. I love how my flashlight and the flash of my camera is the only thing illuminating my path. I love how spooky it is. I love the "shhh, did you hear that?" moments. I love being able to be so quiet to hear that, you can hear your own breathing. The moments are so tense, that you can feel your heart beating. My experience in urban exploring have been like the childhood adventures that I used to have, and still have to this day.

Oh man... or wind making the fallen florescent light fixtures make a scraping/shoveling sound? GEEEZUS! Dora & I wasted 30 minutes freaking out and planning our next move when we heard that shit!

The strangest basement we've explored was FULL of graffiti, and chess books... but really, we haven't explored that many places with basements.

Do any of you ever sit in a place (say for example your local steakhouse) and wonder what it would be like if it was abandoned and you were exploring it sometime in the future?

What a Colorado day. I was out titaning up, you know, scouting, and though it was a beautiful day, all the sudden I was in a blinding storm for a few minutes, then back to a sunny day.

I love finding the source of wierd noises in places.

And I want Coors to be abandoned. You'd have to bring a rolling cart full of food and supplies to do all of coors. It would be amazing.

Hmm...chess books you say? These books aren't by chance up for grabs? I mean, it would be a shame for them to go to waste is all...

Yes indeed, The weather is on the fritz at the moment. I woke up in the wee hours of the morning today to see a downpour of freezing rain outside, guess the weather folks were not so far off, I just hope the rain backs off soon. Yesterday I read that there will be flows coming down from grn mtn res each morning starting around 8 to prepare for the massive snowmelt we have coming this spring. Should be some good fishing though!

It was hilarious when I finally grew the balls to investigate the sound... was all sneaky looking around corners, then when I realized what the sound was coming from I just burst out laughing!

I was out walking with a friend last night, and after a while, the wind made everything super creepy. At one point, we were walking past a dumpster that had a wooden fence around it, and a locked gate. The wind made it sound like there was something behind the gate trying to get out. We were like "Dammit. Of COURSE the zombie apocalypse would start when we're totally un-armed!"

Retro, how could you hear anything over the sound of your brass balls clanging together? I always have to tape mine down for that reason. Try gaffer's tape!

One of the most interesting buildings in the metro area is having an open house in about a week. This is the sort of thing I meant by "idle chatter", as in not really thread-worthy on it's own. Anyway, I am sure many of you are familiar with the outrageously beautiful "castle" in Westminster known as Pillar Of Fire. If it was abandoned I am sure it would be bringing in explorers from all over the country. (It was actually abandoned in the 1910's for a few years, but it's in very good shape and is active as a Christian school and radio station).

Obviously this is going to be a korny freak show, with the Mayor of Westminster, and the Police having some kind of display, but it's such a gothic wonderful building I thought I would pass this tourism opp. on if anyone is interested.

This thread is meant to be for just chit chat that isn't thread-worthy. And to that end, I can add this: I live very near UHOSP, for the last 5 months or so, and though I have seen SIGNS of security there all along, I am only JUST NOW seeing active patrols. Since the deal for the place fell apart about 2 months ago, I was hopeful for Neglect, but somehow the opposite has happened. On the other hand, what I am seeing is: guy in car sitting. I do also see that lights like emergency exit lights are still on near elevators, and that is bad for the idea of alarms. On the other hand, I see tape on doors....signs of security. Certain doors have pieces of tape on them that must be there to PROVE whether or not the door has been breached. And that seems unnecessary if the place is alarmed. I have been in that morgue when it was functioning and I can say it is fully and totally EPIC. I mean mind blowing large. Just endless endless body drawers stacked way high.

And now St. Anthony's Central is gone too. What is it with Hosps in this town.

Neat; the tape could be used in conjunction with the motion sensors. It's likely that only parts of the main building have motion sensors, mostly near entrances and critical power rooms. Does the tape cover all cracks exposed by the doors? or is it similar to the james bond "hair trick"? ( a small piece of tape indicating whether the door was opened or not. )

PM me if you're interested in hearing my plan regarding motion sensors.

This is awesome; I wish the catacombs were close enough that I didn't have to spend a paycheck or two and take a week off of work to see them.

Anyhow, Gilman was mentioned in passing in an article in the Aurora Sentinel today:
