| | | Been doing some research on old ski areas here in Colorado. My first trip was up to the one above Silver Plume but after the pull up the pass, the road I needed to travel had rocks in it...only if my car was an inch and a half higher :/ Anyways today I made a trek down south to a resort that was abandoned. When I arrived there were signs posted stating there was a renovation project going on and noticed two SUVs in the lot and ended up bumping into the group. They said it was nice of me to ask ( duh!!! you saw me. ) if I could photog the site. It was cool to see a ski area in almost winter with no one around. Hell the owners/realtors, whatever, were gone by the time I got back into the car. I did figure out the old resort housing are being rented out, go figure, and most of the buildings are in pretty good standing, are locked, or have lots of miscellaneous items in them for the construction. Just peeked in them out of respect at the time seeing as the people were there. BUT there were old resort maps in a control hut and sad to say the door was locked...lol If anybody has any abandoned/vacant ski area flicks from the four states, please feel free to post them here. | | | Awesome pictures! You should check out the book 'Powder Ghost Towns'. It has directions and info about 36 different abandoned ski resorts around Colorado. I'd definitely be interested in checking out some if you are down. I am in Steamboat and I know there are a bunch around here. Cheers

| | | Rob - Sorry to hear that man, I know that was a big disappointment. Been there in that position before! Didn't have a chance to see the Dish as the sun set to quickly but I got up in the Electric Plant. Nice place! I really like the old knobs in the dash of that half truck out there. Jared - I checked out that book and there isn't much else on locations that I've looked up before but I do like the fact he listed the ins and out. Theres a lot of places that are just open area to ski. I'm more interested in the reminisce of the old ski lifts or the buildings as I don't ski. If you have a 4x4 and the road to Geneva Pass is open I'm down to do two spots there. I see you do photography and these two would make some nice ones.

Good book for checking some of these places out - there's a place in Marble that is kinda cool. The book gives you the exact directions on how to find the place. Without it, you'll be wandering around for ever.
