| | | So my friend and I stumbled across a storm drain while hiking along a creek in town last week so we came back with some flashlights to check it out. The opening went in about 75 feet before coming to a steep slide. After deciding the water at the bottom looked to deep to slide into we came back out and hiked a bit farther before finding another entrance through a vertical shaft next to the railroad. this entered near the bottom of the slide we had seen and split into two bricked drains which looked quite old and were pretty cool. Unfortunately we never came across any big rooms and both passageways eventually let out by the river. btw sorry Im not much with a camera.

Drainrooms are usually for temporary storage of water - in other words, flood control. You'll usually find them downstream of places where water runs into drains faster than planners want. So look near paved areas and flood control structures and floodgates.

| | | #6 - I'd hit it. All kidding aside, yes, great drain... anyone have any idea how old it might be? I am not a drain expert, but I'm pretty sure they haven't made them out of those kind of bricks for a pretty long fucking time.

| | | Haha thats my girlfriend.. dont know how I feel about that comment, I guess Ill take that as a compliment. but Id say its at least 100 years old, a US army post was built in 1887 and the creek that led to this has some old army bridges and a tower built out of similar stone.

Speaking as someone who has most certainly had secks in drains, but sadly never with a drain... I'm going to go with both. stjbs4 - thanks for the info on the age of the thing... I was thinking 75+ years old, but over 100 is even cooler. I feel my pants growing larger in a, um... certain area. [last edit 8/9/2010 1:29 AM by person - edited 1 times]
