| | | Fucking hell. Really?
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too! |

| | | I think I have some relatively current (Jan/Feb) photos. Site looked active, given there was shipping in/out... Photos would be exterior shots. Peach

What I ment was...WOW what a surprise! A big food processing refinery, on Vancouvers waterfont (one of North America's largest ports) within a high security area ...that also just happens to be within the security boundaries of a large railway, and therefore has an inherently large private police force.....blah blah blah. Really? Come on. Maybe head on out to the valley and explore a few abandoned house first, get your UE scout badge, and then think about things a bit. | | | it isn't within the railroad right of way, is it? iirc you can saunter around nonchalantly on the road on the water side of the tracks. but, i guess if you're in the market for a new asshole...

The Port Cops didn't take any attention of me- but I wasn't running down the road trying to get run over on a workday . (Sunday for me...in Jan/Feb- yes, I am one of the guys who was stuck at Ballentine). The road was posted out of bounds shortly after that, because of the fitness freaks (Joggers) who didn't understand it was a bad idea to run in a active port playing dodge the semi-trailers. Rogers in Toronto had (have?) a museum at the refinery there. I have some swag from there, not a lot. One of the plants I didn't get a tour of when I lived in TO. Peach

| | | the site's active, of course, but don't let that discourage you from exploring it. It is a high security area and if you're taking pictures nonchalantly you will be stopped by friendly policemen. Don't try anything silly like climbing fences. The place is framed with razor wire and wired to the teeth. If you come in a workday and look like an employee, you'll probably be able to sneak in without a badge. The last statement is hypothesis, the first two are facts. Good luck. If you suceed, it'd be a really sweet exploration. [last edit 8/6/2010 1:24 AM by dogyeaars - edited 3 times]
