| | | A tattered page from a very very smutty novel. I wound up buying a copy on Amazon...for, um, research purposes. I found a raccoon skull once and someone on the abandoned places LJ group asked me if he could have it, so I mailed it to him. A huge pile of antique canning jars, most of them smashed. I rescued the intact ones and now they are holding some blackberry jam and habanero salsa.

You're lucky the owner wasn't around
I found this in an abandoned power plant, and I think it's cool enough to share

| | | Only cool thing I have found so far were tank treads in a floor that ended at an old wall. Strangely they were in a water processing plant and roughly fifty feet below ground. Story was during WW2 when everyone was paranoid about German attacks in the US that the old ammunitions plant/ military base stored equipment at the water plant. They also used the towers there as a lookout post. Not sure if there is any truth to it as I have never found anything to collaborate it but the tread tracks were there. And I love that there are other WoW players here. I now don't feel so bad. FOR THE HORDE!!

| | | This is like picking my favorite movie! It's too hard to narrow it down to one! But some great finds include an old polygraph machine, a room full of refrigerators, another room full of billiards/ping-pong tables, and a frisbee (that I keep in my truck for emergency's). The views from roofs are pretty great too, like seeing the Ambassador bridge from Northville, MI.

| | | Posted by megaroni45 I always loved finding old patient/medical records, care plans, etc. I'm a sucker for hospitals and asylums and I always love just seeing what gets left behind. It is always ridiculously expensive medical equipment or the most random things. Medical records are always an interesting find. I find it sad that people's records, which are very personal, were left behind since HIPPA was usually not in place before many of them closed down. Reading about some of the reasons people were put in the hospitals is always interesting and so are a lot of the treatments. I guess I'm a medical nerd.
|
I also remain a sucker for these haunting artifacts that remain. Just this weekend, while exploring a soon to be demolished asylum, i located a filing cabinet deep within the tunnels. Folders filled with death reports on each patient from the 50's. These reports detailed all of the behavior and treatment used up until the patients death. Later on i happened onto a box of patient cards from the 1930's that detailed each patients race ( white or non white), religion, and amount of times they had been admitted back to the facility.

They say "you can't judge a book by its cover!" I say "YES you can, if the cover has a girl on it with a cock in her mouth, its PORN!" if she's 18 and the cock is black, its GREAT porn! |
