Some history on the house in question:
Rosen’s appraisal valued the property at $701,000, and he presented pictures showing the need for extensive interior repairs. Rosen estimated it will cost about $1 million to repair and renovate the interior.
The three-story, 9,200-square-foot home was built in 1925 by coal baron and political leader John C. Kehoe.
The Kehoe forces ran the city for decades, amidst constant allegations of corruption and cronyism. Ruling from his wheelchair at the family estate, the political dictator was a major force in elections for Governor, Luzerne County and Pittston City Hall, and the city school board also. One reason for disdain of Kehoe was that he owned the Pittston Sunday Dispatch, where in a weekly column, As Kehoe Knows It, he cursed enemies and heaped praise on his few friends and himself as well. The annual Kehoe post-Labor Day political clambake on the Harding lawn drew about 2,000 guests that often included Governors and U.S. Senators, Scottish bagpipers and a Caledonian band. Now, as Kehoe lingered through the last days of his terminal illness in October, the new Loftus coalition was mounting an impressive takeover of city government, only two weeks after Kehoe’s death.

| | | | I live practically next door. I would play with the Taylor girls growing up. I've been fortunate to visit this house many times. They owned Taylor Water Spring. Did you take photos of the elevator or the servants quarters?

I believe he was the current owner. He did not tell me too much about him. I know he was from California and I read that the current owners are also from there. I do know a little of the history.. It belonged to the Kehoe family, a prominent family in NEPA during the coal mining era. After that it became a bed and breakfast and those owners did not take care of it. It was a great find and a real gem. It is immaculate.

The the Taylor family and owned it right up until the new owners purchased it in 2009. They had 7 or 8 girls. I grew up with the youngest so this is why I know so much about the property.
The Taylor's actually sold and divided the land behind the property and built a new home where they live today.
The daughters tried to open a B&B but there is nothing really to draw the people to the area to stay for a weekend.
The servant quarters are actually apartments.
This was going to a place of interest during Chestfest since its right next door to the campsite.
There must be quite a few things a hot bath won't cure, but I don't know any of them.

Thank you for this information! That is awesome that you grew up with the girls.. Such an amazing house to play hide and seek in.. lol. I did know about the B&B but you are right, why would anyone go there for the weekend. I did not get to the servants quarters unfortunately. I was kinda freaked out about all of the guns everywhere. I wonder what the owner plans on doing with the property now? I was trying to find that out but he was avoiding all of my questions. I can see weddings being held there...
