| | | So a very good friend of mine was seriously hurt last night at York Redoubt. She fell off of a wall or, I'm thinking, one of the paths with a very steep (wall) embankment below. By the sounds of it, she was lucky to be with someone capable of getting help. The paper says it isn't known what she was doing in the park after dark... What should be totally obvious to the paper is that it becomes dark around 10pm now. At dusk they began to leave the park and it was on their way out that she fell.
Woman seriously hurt in fall at York Redoubt A woman suffered serious injuries when she fell in Halifax’s York Redoubt park late Thursday evening. By midnight, rescuers including paramedics and firefighters with Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Service’s Herring Cove station were deep in the park trying to get the woman to safety, said Platoon Chief Steve Auton. The woman, believed to be in her 20s, fell down a short cliff, the platoon chief said. Off-road equipment was brought in to help get the woman into a waiting ambulance. It was not known what she was doing in the park after dark. herald.ca |
She fell about 20' and for that she was rewarded with twenty stitches, a fractured ankle, and a dislocated elbow.

| | | Glad she wasn't too too injured, but why would she be out there after dark? Is she too into UE? I mean, its York Redoubt, there isn't much to see in a public place, especially after dark.

They were walking there in the evening. When it became dark, they began to leave. What more can I say. The paper made them sound irresponsible for being there after dark.. They didn't go there in the dark. I'm not sure what part of the park the fall occurred in but am curious to find out. I don't believe it was on the path between the church and Spion Kop. That leaves the YSB area and the upper area of York Redoubt adjacent to the parking lot.

| | | Oddly enough, the last time I was exploring in Point Pleasant Park, the person I was with fell off a wall and nearly knocked himself out. I guess they can be surprisingly dangerous. Walls: know the danger. Poor humor aside, I'm glad things weren't worse and that she will eventually recover.

This would look GREAT on a t-shirt! Chris...
We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit. |
