EUR meet #2!

All of you who are members of the facebook group make sure you check your messages, for those of you who are not here's the message that was sent.

This weekends prospective meet will take place on either Friday or Saturday and the meet will be at Clareview LRT station at 8:45 PM on the day of the meet.

We will be walking about 2 km so bring comfortable shoes, and a water bottle or two. Other things you should bring include dark clothing, a flashlight (light discipline will be a must this trip), and only things you feel you can't live without (try to travel light).

I will post an event when a date has been finalized, and I will disclose the location at the meet and discuss any other matters that need attention at that time.

If you want to come out let me know what day works best for you (I will be picking a date at 11:59 PM tonight), and anyone who has a vehicle and would be willing to provide rides would be of great benefit and compensation for fuel can be arranged if need be.

If you have any questions let me know.

-H4wXx

I will be posting the event both here and on facebook, so no worries about missing it.

Points:

1) Light and noise discipline. Let me stress this, discipline. There is a reason why some of us were hanging back when advancing to the location.
2) Use blue or white light instead of red to check for blood; the way I see it, risking getting our cover blown is worth confirming a possible eye injury.
3) When a 5-man recce team is already picked out, do NOT turn it into an eight person group.
4) Hear any birds chirping? No? They certainly aren't going to start all of a sudden, calling to each other as they do bounds from one treeline cover to the next. Red light signalling system would be the better course of action, or even better, 2-way radio.
5) Walking single file through knee high brush will leave a ridiculously clear path. Just saying.
6) Next time I go out, I'm bringing navigational kit.
7) Parking somewhere rather distant and with multiple exit points might be a better idea next time, haha

I agree with everything you have posted above, as this last meet practically turned into a disaster. As fun as some things were, we could have gotten in a lot more trouble than we did and we're extremely lucky that we didn't. My sympathies go out to Sapper and Germ however, getting that traffic violation sucks hardcore.

On a side note, I have some two way radio's, which I think I'll bring to the next meet.

I also have a pair of radios I can snag for next time. My dad never uses them so I'm sure I could get them pretty easy.

And yea, I'm sorry to hear about the violation.

In addition to Sapper's excellent post, I think it would be a good idea if maybe we came up with a system of protocol.

I agree mostly, but I will dissent on number 5. If you mean through that farmers field, it is far more.. responsible to cause less damage to the property and crop. There is virtually 0 chance of getting caught and less chance of getting punished if we did miraculously get caught. But That is very situational and I assume you are referring specifically to the farmers field just SE of the hospital, where someone, who I won't name, started a fire =p.

Also I want to reinforce and expand on your #7. It's all about finding the RIGHT spot to park. BTW, not that it bothers me but that "2km" walk to the hospital was actually closer to about 6km, roundtrip was somewhere around 12km, Assuming we had to walk all the way back to clareview, (which we did not)
My suggestion, for a next time, is park at the graveyard and walk straight north, or park north of the hospital just off one of the side roads that are NOT part of the hospital property, and walk south. The west railroad track is slightly more out in the open, but far FAR from being too conspicuous. On top of this, tromping through those extra fields really adds time and fatigue that we would be perfectly right in avoiding.

Well I figured it was more like 6km, but I got information from someone else that it was actually only 2km. I should've just gone with 6km, seeing as that's what google maps said, lol.

It's ok though, we survived! It's good for us anyways, though any future meets are going to be planned in much more detail so we can avoid being a giant disorganized mob again, lol.

K Ya I think We Need To Actually Have a Meet and discuss some things before venturing out again , and if ppl are bringin guests , they should be aware of how to dress , act , and blend . Also , Some Sort of Protocol would be a Good idea .

Attention EUR members. AT ALL FUTURE MEETS AND EVENTS, SOBRIETY WILL BE MANDATORY!!!!!

If yu are drinking booze, limit it to one. Not a forty, then a miki of hard booze. If you can't adhere to this rule, you won't be coming. PERIOD!!!

Nobody is saying we can't celebrate after, it's just that noise and light and not listening could seriously screw up the missions and I for one don't feel like having my cover blown by some idiot who wouldn't be if not for the booze.
I think there are more of you that agree, and I am not pointing fingers. It's a new, simple rule. If you need to drink, don't come.

A few key members and I are going to meet to draft up a possible charter of rules (i hate that word), I guess protocol is a better word.

Again, I am not pointing fingers, and I certainly am not trying to pick on anyone. I am however stressing how important cover and silence are in that kind of situation, and that alcohol only impairs your ability to control these.

thats all
I have to say.

oh ya, and everything sapper said.

P.S. My pics are on the EUR goes Koo Koo thread
