anyone know anything about this? Kimbercules and I went there the past couple weekends (one scouting, one shooting) and were just curious about the history. It's completely abandoned and pretty much empty. There are some signs it's being watched, but other than that, there aren't any trespassing signs, fences, or other security. It's pretty much wide open.

We have some pictures, but it's pretty boring and we didn't get anything all that good from it. Just curious what anyone knows about it.

No pics yet. We have them at home, but they aren't anything special. I might post them later.

Nah, I ended up with a Canon T1i. I got a good deal on it. I actually am not too fond of Nikon controls. I liked the Canon better. It seems to do a pretty good job so far.

it's alright. there's a cool control panel in the main building. the admin offices are boring. just a soda machine and linoleum flooring

the house is surprisingly empty as well. not even trashed, just cleaned and empty. maybe we're jaded from some of the cooler stuff we've seen. it's worth shooting though. there's a huge white barn owl that hangs around. we weren't able to get a picture of it, unfortunately. TONS of owl pellets around too.

Nice! I just busted out my old 35mm film camera and got some B&W film for it. Looking forward to getting some great shots with it.

nice!

we picked up an old Argus C3 35mm for a few bucks at an antique store. everything seems to work just fine on it. great shape too. i'll try to remember to post some pics tonight, but might not get around to it.

It was a feedlot, I think they also produced the food pellets there for the cattle.

yeah, that's what we found on one of the signs. nothing too eventful in there. it was a bit sad, we were hoping for a bit more. even the house on the property was completely empty.

do you happen to know what's up with all the boarded up houses nearby? there are about 5 houses completely boarded up just north of there, but they are newish and the boarding looks recent and thorough.

Did you not go in the basement of the main building? I thought that site was pretty interesting & epic-ly tall with lots of photo ops! http://www.flickr....2994508975/detail/

No, I didn't notice the boarded up houses to the north... maybe RTD purchased them for future expansion? How far north of there are these houses?

yeah, the outside structure was actually quite neat. i guess i was talking more about the inside.

we never made it into that first building! we looked inside the windows and saw it was empty and just decided not to. we will go back and check that out for sure. i think we're just a little spoiled after the sugar factories and the cement factory up in wyoming. ah well.

regarding the houses, they are about 1/2 a mile north or so. just on the other side of the road that halliburton is on (to the north). they are in a small cluster. i would be curious to know what you think. i can PM you the details since they are pristine and livable right now and i'd hate for someone to trash them.

I've just gotten around to processing some of my older pics. Here are a few from there.

random horse picture on a control panel

buttons!

there is always a chair

wonder if I can check my email...

there was a dumping ground just north of the plant and oddly enough the two main items dumped were contact lenses (seriously, hundreds of pairs of them, sealed) and stuffed animals (about a dozen or more).

I acutaly believe I was one of the first to explore those vacant houses up north from the factory. Or at least pretty darn close to them being boarded up and all. Quite interesting houses, one had a pretty nice floor plan, and quite a bunch of stuff still left in the basement, and in a closet near the back door behind a bar type structure. I think that they might be some sort of foreclosure houses, seeing as how they're in such great condition. Hopefully they stay that way!!!

Haha, I'm writing a paper on women's rights.
..... not that women's rights are funny or anything.
