Stong, have you been since 2002? I've checked it a few times and there's very new-looking bolts that are welded in place. I'm pretty sure the entrance you're thinking of is now sealed.

We could try a grinder, maybe. Or perhaps a Fein Multi-Master assuming the metal isn't too too thick. If anyone owns one that is.

As cool as it would be, I think we need to find a much less obvious and destructive mode of entrance.

How is it sealed? Is it bolted and welded, bolted, riveted, locked, or...?

yo just went by place its peach colored now and that entrance in the ravine is riveted shut. Although there is a man hole by it. But Capt Canada may be right about it being sealed good

I know for a fact that this bunker used to have a air intake right by the ravine, which has since been taken out.Does anyone know what that pipeline system is for?On the south end of Mackinnon, there is a manhole.

There are two pipes supported by bridges. One of them looks like a water pipe-it has a fairly thick casing. The other is more of a sheet metal construction.Maybe it is for telecom, but you can't just dismiss things.

Hey guys.
I was talking with my friends the other day and the subject of bomb shelters came up. And while conversing it was divulged that apparently there are rumors of a hidden bomb shelter somewhere under the Old Strathcona High School. Can anyone verify this?

I don't know about that, but I found out through UEA(UE Alberta) that there is a structure around the legislature area(or somewhere very close). From the sounds of it,this one was sunken even lower than this Cold War shelter.

Huh, that sounds oddly like a rumour I was attempting to start about six years ago.

Can't confirm or deny.

I have a feeling you leaving very subtle hints here.
Which means, we have a tonne of work to do.

That bunker is the village bicycle...

Also it was the Penhold bunker that was rumored to have been destroyed in 2001 (you just misread the article); though reliable sources report that the entrances were backfilled, and the bunker left intact.

The Penhold bunker was called the Diefenbunker, after John Diefenbaker.

I went there as a cadet in the 90's. It was a cool tour.
