Off to another adventure
| | Kamloops, BC Tranquille Sanitarium < on 4/23/2010 8:54 PM >
| | | Just 15 minutes North East out of Kamloops there is a small town called Tranquille where there was a 100 acre sanitarium for patients with tuberculosis. Here is a website link with some history and info http://www.urbante...s.com/tranquil.htm The site is a self sufficient town with doctor's offices, laundry mat, fire hall, and school. A wilderness adventure company bought the land and are turning it into a resort with a lot of the old buildings still intact that they are going to use. The historical value is awesome as I have been there (but not on the grounds) as there were people fixing the place up with machines and such. A few years ago EU's searched around and noted that there are tunnels that go in and around the grounds where there were stories of workers abusing the patients in those tunnels. In some of the buildings there are still some artifacts of medical equipment and other cool things. Being just outside of the grounds is kind of creepy as there is an unmarked cemetery on the grounds somewhere. There is a story of a little boy who lived at the sanitarium who wondered out past the grounds in the middle of the night, the next morning they found the little boy dead on the side of the road.
