Tabi Boots AKA Ninja boots

I saw someone make reference to haveing them and I was wondering if anyone has used them. I know it sounds silly, but alot of ninja shit is great for climbing and being stealthy...

But yeah, Tabi boots (from what I understand) are quiet and good for climbing. Can anyone back me up and is it worth shelling out $30?

Yeah just check out the wraiths, www.wraiths.org, site. They sing the praises of the things whenever possible, and a guy I UE with got a pair recently and said they are great.

The Infiltrators- these explorers are the wildmen, the hardy souls that won't take DO NOT ENTER or NO TRESPASSING for an answer. These guys are usually the ones that look at any building as a target. These are the guys that if asked if they could infiltrate the Pentagon, their eyes would glaze over and say, "Sure. Why not?"- Thanx Samurai

Lots of people here use tabi boots... Lots of threads have been created about them too

So, where would I have to look to get really good durable tabis?

A good while ago, someone posted a link to a japanese store that sold everything from tabi house shoes to steel toed waterproof tabi work boots, but I heard the sizing of japanese shoes is different than on american shoes so I didn't know what size to get.

So, where should I look to get something besides the typical kind you find in a martial arts novelty store.

Well depending on where you live, it shouldn't be too difficult to find an authentic martial arts supplies store; again, I believe this has aleady been suggested in another thread, so take a look at them.

i recently got a pair of tabis, theyre pretty good but this one thing thats wrong is that the velcro id making noise when my ankle moves, i tryed duct tape and it jast made it noisier, any suggestoins?
oh and i tryed putting a pair of thick wooly socks over the tabis and it was so silent! i could almost sprint completely silently.

Have been on a contract so havent been around to respond to this sooner.. here's a link to the place i am getting my new sets from.

http://www.buyubooks.com/browse.cfm?type=U

They sell the metal alloy toed tabis, waterproof tabi, and misc other stuff.. the ones i am going with are the metal alloy toed, waterproof, and the 3 velcro version, as well as getting the metal sole inserts to help gaurd against broken glass and other stuff...

As far as the velcro making noise, mine don't make noise and are velcro, i would recommend maybe buying the metal tabbed or zippered version of tabi's if you are having issues with noise.. Another option if you are decent at sewing would be to rip the velcro off and sew your own zippers on, or if that isnt an option, pick up a grommet kit, take the velcro off, pop some grommets on, and just lace them up.
