Well take your friend and go explore! If you knew where everything was it wouldn't be exploring. If you two get some experience beforehand, you'll find more people willing to explore with you

Not that I'm an expert on Calgary, but theres not a whole lot left after the last building craze. If you're into draining theres plenty to keep you busy for a long time.

Yes Calgary is too fast to tear down the old and bring in the new.
Old residential school near Nature's Hideaway campground, can be seen from Google Earth but only accessable in winter when the river is frozen. ATV or horseback recommended. I agree with the Captain on the draining, try the valley under the resevoir damn sometime just follow the river you will find what you are looking for

An easy place to check out is the abandoned gas station/restaurant on the Stoney Indian Reserve west of the Kan.Village turn off. The area is a road side rest stop so it is open to the public.

There have been no efforts to secure this, no fences no locks - so go check it out!

Not yet at least. As helpful as your posts were trying to be, it's generally a bad thing to talk about locations openly on here. Especially take care not to mention points of entry. Part of the fun is figuring it out for oneself anyway.

whoops good call. modified entry hopefully that's better Is it still bad to describe a location when it is open to the public?

Nope, not really, but it might be considered bad form in some cases.
