|  | | | Well this location is obviously not in North Carolina, but I am... so I figured that it was ok to post it in the mid-atlantic forum. Plus due to Government planning for this area, it is now unvisitable. (Unless you want to sneak past Marines standing on post at the gate. Not joking either) I took these Photos in June 2009 and as of 2010 the Military is going to start using the facility again.
This is an Ammunition Depot / Warhead Factory that was shut down by the Gov't. There's tons of underground bunkers scattered in the desert (most locked) although most of the photos I posted are of the Factory portion. The outdoor tracks are for trains that carried the completed missiles, and there are indoor tracks for the factory carts that carried the missile carcasses through the different parts of the factory. Unfortunately, it cant be visited now, but the good news is its not being wasted anymore.
I have plenty more pictures but it took long enough resizing these as they are huge pictures. By the way, the scorpion was not posing for me, but actually trying to kill me.

Not sure what I'm doing, no solid plans but I seem to always be doing something. Let me know if your going to be roaming. Especially if your going to be going to a drain i haven't been to (most of them).

also, Fuck Scorpions lol. FL actually has 3 different species of scorpions and I found them in my house all the damn time. It sucks checking your shoes before you put them on in FL.
But, they do naturally glow in black lights, so it was cool to have one as a pet.

Yep, it was alive and well, but too fast to catch. Plus myself and disease from a mouse bite don't get along well.
And by the big white H on the hill, I think you mean the HUGE white H, hah. Check out the cars below for a reference to the size. The outline of the H was made of sidewalks. It can be seen clearly from 13 miles away, where the factory is located. When driving in Nevada though, I found that huge white letters were not uncommon near towns and cities who's names usually begin with that letter. I saw a Huge LV near Vegas, and a huge R near Reno, as well as several others on mountains near towns.

There is a private firm who owns a lot of the land around that small town and uses it for desert driving training IED training, etc. Not much in the town itself except for a small casino and a McDonald's.
Near the big H is a bunch of old junked cars that people have pushed off a cliff to rust away in a small gully.
