Victoria tunnels

Hi everyone,
I am new to tunnel exploring and I don't know where to start. How do I go about finding maps and entrances to them? I live in victoria, B.C. If anyone can help me get started I would really appreciate. I went to the city archives but they denied that they were tunnels and they said they don't have any maps which I know is false.

* have you looked in the Rookie forums on this site ? you may find this question answered

- google / bing / wiki etc
- looking for drains ? they usually empty into creeks, rivers, and other large bodies of water
- service tunnels etc can be trial and error, welcome to exploring, go explore !! I'm not familiar with your part of the world, maybe someone will help

spend some time reading this website, like all the threads in the rookie forum and the tips and tricks/hints area.

information here won't be given if you don't first make an effort ( greater than already )

I found several storm drains in Victoria while rowing in the Head of the Gorge. I'm not sure what the boating situation is there at other times but I assure you that it is most interesting seeing that sort of thing from on the water.

hey welcome, i hope you have read some of the garden city thread theres plenty of good tips in there and theres plenty of good people on here. anyway the archive's will of course deny any existence of tunnel's under the city(ive never actually asked archive folk directly about them) they do have map's but most of which are pretty old, and not exactly tunnel's, you need to ask yourself what type of tunnel's your looking for... anyway the best way to help get tip's is to go out and do something post about it show some picture's tell a story and more people will be glad to help with some hint's, and hint's dont always come easy, that being said i would be glad to help you as much as i can.

Assigned reading.

Among the things you may glean from that thread:

1) City Archives is utterly uncooperative.
2) Everyone and their dog has a tunnel story.
3) The more experienced urbexr's don't give up info easily. There's a reason for that. Read the thread and you'll find out why.

Glad you're hear.

You're a rower too? That's awesome. I've rowed the Head of the Gorge before.

Hiya! I'm pretty new at this too, but I have a lot of friends who have been into urban exploration for years and are teaching me all the ins and outs.

I'm also from Victoria and one of my friends has a map. What you DO NOT want to do is to tell them you want a map of TUNNELS. Tell them that you need a map of the "sewers" of downtown. If they ask you why, tell them it's for some sort of architectural project for school. Do not use the word tunnel even once, or they will not let you have them. People have been trying to find usable entrances for them for years.

I hope you find my information useful and the best of luck to you!!

What I would do is call myself a geography student and needed entrance points for a case study on urban land use and how it differs depending on it's morpholgy in relation to irrigation and drainage. </nerd>

Bad plan. If you're a geography student, they (archives/city) will know that you have access to all that information at the university. That's how Tanuki managed to get all his stellar info...because he was an earth science grad student.

...oh yeah. I almost forgot...none of what anybody offers in this thread as far as useful advice is going to amount to any tangible difference, unless that advice comes from an actual city employee. And why is that, you ask?

Because DUH this thread is publicly viewable. Which means that anyone with even the most passing interest in this subject can easily log on to UER/Infiltration/etc. and ACTUALLY read every last word that's been submitted to the thread.

EPIC FAIL.

Carry on.

well DUH, and for one, the sewer map's are not a map of tunnel entrances, well it is and it isnt, they show you a map of the sewer line's, and storm drain lines are if you have both if your looking for drain's good luck there's only a handful of walkable one's FYI There are no tunnel's under victoria we all know that, why would the city deny them if they were there, comon what kind of crazy nonsense is that if there were tunnels they would be used as a attraction

ohh wait my ass there are no tunnel's ive seen them

as far as the city is concerned there are no tunnel's what was "tunnels" has been filled extended basements yea of course you walk over them all the time downtown, personally the city will give you less info if you say it's about tunnel's becasue they dont want you down there, it's dark scary and if you get lost they dont want to spend the money or time to find you, when they dont even know when your down there seriously though why the fuck would you ask the city for a map of tunnel's??

anyway welcome and good luck i hope my dick of post doesn't scare you away
