Disregard my first mistake being a crappy camera lol

KODAK Z730 ZOOM DIGITAL CAMERA
f/4
ISO-200
24sec Exposure

There was a fluorescent light shining on it from the garage

What could i change to make it not so yellow/green?

does your camera let you change the white balance?
and what kind of editing software do you have?

Putting aside the poor composition and subject matter. Uhhh well, you're shooting with a P&S using auto white balance under florescent lights that cycle, far from optimal conditions for photography.

I processed this in CS3 using NikSoft to remove the color cast, not great but its the best I can do with a JPEG. It would be much easier to fix white balance problems if it was a RAW file.

You would be surprised what some point and shoots can do. And jpegs can be edited just fine, it's just not as flexible as raw and point and shot pictures are not meant to be blown up, that's all.

And one word can make a point and shoot kick the ass of even some dslr cameras. Leica.

Negative on the white balance, and no photo editing software. Just trying to make due with what i have at the moment until I can afford anything decent

I'm well aware. Editing in RAW/TIFF allows for nearly lossless modification unlike JPEG which is more susceptible to artifacting and artificially introduced noise when modified. It's no different modifying either format, it's just the end product that is different. I'm not knocking the OP, we've all got to make do with what we have. I'd be hard pressed to call a Leica a point and shoot though.

Tungsten white balance will correct the yellow effect better than Fluorescent WB I'd imagine.

If you can learn Photoshop, many things are possible. I avoided it for years because I thought it required a PhD in order to know how to use it. It's not that difficult.

For many years I used Paint Shop Pro - limited in what you can do but definitely can add some zing to the image.

Here's a little PS for you, done in a hurry and by no means a professional job:

The plugin I use has an adjustment from 0-100. If set too low, noise results.

The image was only to demonstrate how a plugin can be used to alter the original image. Obviously you don't want noise in the final product and would have to play with the settings.

yeah, so far the best. but what you really gotta watch out for, CP, is the composition. you cut off the left side of the trailer, the top of the arm, and the horizon is crooked. you're using auto settings, so at least make the composition count.

Lumix point and shoot use leica glass. But thats kinda like adding cheat codes.

Oh and some point and shoots shoot in tiff, and others can be hacked to shoot in raw.

Everything I shoot is with a point-and-shoot (45 seconds ISO 80). OP: Learn your manual settings, the white balance under fluoros is key. Google Picasa lets you play with some basic color casts, while other free software (gimp/lightroom/whatever) has more advanced things that take longer to learn. Photoshop is popular because it's old, but is either free or expensive (nudge wink).

B+W is a good choice for freak color balances, but my own suggestion is to make a tripod strap. I got some kind of ribbon loop from rock climbing and hitched it onto my tripod, and I sling it diagonally on my shoulders or over a small bag. That makes it easy to carry it. In fact, the picture I linked to is a place where I thought I'd need to avoid carrying anything at all, and should have brought it. In that case, I used a lump of clay from the construction site to aim the camera.

tl;dr technique is nice, can make better photos, but it's all about what makes you happy. Most people are limited by their compositional skills rather than the metal and glass in their hands.

Okay, I gave it a shot in Photoshop Elements 5, I'm too scared of the CS4 I have.
Using a combination of the magic wand tool and the selection brush, I was able to select everything that had even a slight green tint.

Then I opened Enhance>Adjust Color>Adjust Hue/Saturation.
Then I moved the hue slider to the left until the box read -11. I clicked okay, then deselected the photo, this got rid of MUCH of the green coloration. If I went any further than -11 on the hue slider, it got too red and was noticeably separated from the sky.

There is a free photo editor called Paint.Net That does a decent job. Did I mention it's free? If you want to download it, get version 3.5. It's one of the newest versions.
