| | | Saw this hotel on the way to visit my brother at the hospital. After several trips back to the hospital without cameras in tow, I put forth a modicum of effort and went by. Single-story L-shaped hotel with two-story expansion across a side street.

| | | Is this Gainesville? Some guy threatened to call the cops on us near that hotel one time.

| | | Yea, that's where it is. I got a little scare on my way off the property - walked around the corner to see a blacked out SUV and a police cruiser with its lights on. Turned out some lady was getting pulled over, they payed me little attention. I didn't go inside at all.

That's a shame. It could have been pretty sweet inside. Though I'm not suggesting you admit to going in, you'd just "find" pics online of the inside ;) [last edit 10/9/2009 4:51 AM by Switch_ - edited 1 times]

| | | There might be something cool in one of the rooms, but it would be necessary to gain access to each room in turn - they each open to the parking lot. That's seems a lot of work for a few rotted mattresses.

| | | Ah, that's true. I didn't realize that they all open to the parking lot and there's no indoor hallway. That does seem a lot of work for a tiny room. Valid point.

| | | They posted an article in today's on-line edition of the local paper for where this motel is. The up shot is that they got a block grant for redevelopment of this block, the abandoned house behind it, and the old chiropractors office to the left of it. I don't think I am allowed to post the web link to the newspaper here, but people in the area might want to know about this. Demo is to start soon, and they have some old pics of the place from the 60s or 70s (not dated so its hard to tell). BTW several celebrities stayed at the motel, such as Paul Newman, Larry Gatlin, and drivers from Road-At#####a speed way.

Definitely a good point. There's a motel like this in my general area and after making the effort to gain entrance to a handful of the rooms, all I found was the same nightstand, some rotted mattresses (as you said), and sticky mini fridges that stunk to high heavens. I could have spent that time on something larger and more worthwhile. I also felt the need, afterward, to go to the Dunkin' Donuts next door and wash my hands about five times because it was so damn dirty. But c'est la vie.

| | | Well I am gonna take a chance here, I didn't see anything banning me from posting the news article either. So here goes, hope I will to be able to talk to you later http://www.gainesv...ews/archive/26481/ (Since it has already gone to archive status you might want to read this soon!)

| | | Too bad they're demoing this. I wanted to post it on Shadowlands and make up a crazy story to try to get teenagers to go there and trash it. Vengeance for that guy threatening to call the cops on us.
