More Photos from JHG A.K.A Pat Brown Lumber **33 PICS**

Heres some more photos from the JHG lumber company. I didn't have many that came out all that great but heres the ones I have that came out the best.

Back in the early 60's my Grandfather was the General Manager of this lumber yard when it was Pat Brown lumber company. My Grandfather (93) and I explored this location together and he couldn't believe that their was so much left behind from when he was their and so much new stuff that had been added to this place throughout the years of its 3 different owners. Although this particular piece of equipment had long been sold and scrapped when he left this company, my Grandfather designed a planing mill that at one time was one of the more efficient mills in the country. He explained to me how back then he had drawn the plans for this mill on the back of a pasteboard box simply from his mind. When my Grandfather managed this lumberyard, it was nationally known and provided much of the lumber that was used to build the Pentagon. My father, who was probably 6 or 7 years old at the time can also remember much of this lumber yard, and although he wasn't with me during my tour of this place he could remember much of it from his memory. Back in the day this location was one of the true sawmill camps and one of the few that probably remain.

This was probably the most wonderful UE I have had the chance to do yet. Being in the place that I have heard about as kid from both my Grandfather and Father, and having a tour guide with firsthand knowledge of this facility was a true treat.

I suggest anyone who wishes to view this location visit it within the next 60 days as its going to be bulldozed over soon and zoned as either commercial or who the hell knows what soon. Enjoy this place before it goes folks

Awesome. I can't believe I missed those spectacles and the old paperwork. That's what I get for poor planning and not bringing a bigger flashlight.
