I'm by far an expert on sneaking around, so could someone post some info on how to move quietly, climb fences, breathe quietely, or anything else related to moving around unnoticed ... Thanks.

It has plenty about walking... but nothing about landing/jumping...

One word for you "relax." The more relaxed you are the less force you create. The less force you hit with and the more you ubsorb the less sound you make. It's that simple.

The best way to lern stealth skills is practise, just practise whenever you get the oppertunity, its better than having people tell you how.
I practise every single day, all day. I walk all the way to school making sure i make no noise and all the way back, I sneak up on my cat and dog whenever i get the chance, i sneak up on my brother, I practise running silently whenever i have nothing else to do, when i get home from school I try to get through the house without my family knowing of my presence, at school i sneak around the girls toilets at lunch time (luckily haven't got busted yet) and i even try to sneak up on birds, but that is very hard. I jump off a 4 foot ledge over and over and over and try to make each landing quieter than my last and try different techniques of landing. my next stealth practise will be a small mission my friend gave me, I have to get through the back of woolworths and take a drink fromm the lunch room (he works there so its his drink that im taking, not stealing). So im getting myself well prepared for future stealth mmissions.

The key to being silent in most cases is weight distribution. Stomp your foot on the ground and it's loud because there's more force behind it right? The less force there is the less noise there is. When I try and walk silently I pretty much just walk on the balls of my feet. Support my weight with the ball of my back foot, step forward, drop a toe and then just roll the bodyweight onto the ball of my front foot.

Now if you wanna make a quiet landing, it'll probably take some practice because it's about timing. Essentially what you want to do is collapse your body down into a crouch one joint at a time to minimize the force of your landing. Just try your best to land on the balls of your feet directly into a crouch with your fingers on the ground in one fluid motion.

And believe it or not, yes, Splinter Cell really is a pretty good way to learn how to move, even though it wasn't made with motion capture technology. Just always ALWAYS keep this one thing in mind when you're trying to be quiet: Weight distribution. When you're sneaking around, try and keep your torso straight, with no vertical movement. Like your torso's traveling along a perfectly flat rail, and your legs are simply moving beneath it.

Contrary to popular belief, death isn't just for dead people. I know I was surprised too! It can happen to anybody! Horses, fiddler crabs, even a potato can die! - Tick

Yes weight distribution is important in walking silently. I take each step by starting with the rear of my shoe and have my foot tilted to the side, then drop the foot down flat and then i shift my weight to that foot.

Runnung silently take a hell of a lot of practise, you gotta keep the weight like, the same at all times if ya know what i mean, so there is no weight shift so you are just running completely straight without bouncing up and down.

landing silently i am still practising, i can get it pretty good so far. What I do is, I land with only one foot on the ground first, I have my foot the same way as the first step of walking silently, then I use my knee to absorb as much shock as possible then absorb the rest with my fingers on the ground.

Another good stealth skill ive learnt from sneaking around te house is looking around corners without being seen. What I do is, Instead of keeping close to the corner and look around really slowly, I stand at least 3 feet if possible and peer around the corner very slowly untill I see a shouldder or an arm etc, then stop, by seeing one part of the body you can tell which way the person is facing and wether it is safe to sneak past.

Sometimes you need to get the person to look elsewhere to get past, this is where you make sounds as a distraction, use a small rock or something and throw it in the direction you want the person took at, then you got about 2-5 seconds to get past.

Also practise camoflaging, hiding in shadows and breaking the human silouet for stealth.

I could probably say that at the very leats that %50 of the people here have at one time tried to sneak around their house sneaking up on family members lol.

Ive learned some stealth moves from game slike Metal Gear solid, about distracting people, getting around them and such, even gettin past cameras but thats damn hard.

Ive learned to make little noise when I jump from parkour, when I hit the ground I roll imediatly thus dispersing all of my weight, greatly reducing the force of me hitting the ground and reducing sound, but its not completely silent.

Isn't it really bad for your knees to land heel first? Likewise ankles and landing one-footed.

Im not sure if its bad but its just the best way ive found out, and also gota watch out u dont hurt your ankle really bad. But when it gets to higher drops, like joecat said, yeah u gotta roll immediately. And I love the game metal gear solid soo much, its the best aye especially number 2.

I wouldn'tve expected landing on your heel to be silent at all. When I do a silent landing, I do it by absorbing the impact through my entire foot because I land on the ball. If you land on your heel that's 2 points of articulation on your foot that can't be used to help absorb the impact because they're ahead of the heel. Ya follow? Try landing on your ball of your foot, ya may go from fairly quiet to ninjalike in your landings

I know this sounds stupid but it works. Put silly puddy or any kind of puddy, kind of thing on the bottom of your shoe(not good shoes cause it can be hard to get off). Then you can jump and i suggest you land on the toe of your shoe and then move to your heel. It really works.

When trying to walk as quietly as possible, where you walk can be as important as how you walk. A few examples:

1) Look where you are about to place your foot. Try to step in a spot that is clear of debris. Avoid gravel, dead leaves and twigs as often as possible.

2) When walking up wooden stairs, try to stay as close to the side edge (next to the wall) as possible. This will help in avoiding creaks.

I know a few other tips, but I can't think of them at the moment. I'll post them if I remember.

Those who make peaceful change impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.
