Old farmhouse in New Brunswick

Hi everyone, this if my first post (after a long wait of course!). Very interested in joining the community and finding some interesting places.

Here is my first addition: an old (built in 1913 I believe) farmhouse in New Brunswick that was burned down because it would be too costly to update. The inside was gutted for all the nice trim and doors.

Outside and looking in front door

After walking in the front door, straight ahead were a set of stairs, a hallway, and the room to the right

The rooms on the right side of the house. Quite the view!

Down the hallway was the kitchen. All the rooms had a metal ceiling, which I am told was so the people upstairs had time to get out in case of a fire. Some of it was a bit rusted...

From the kitchen, there was a set of stairs down to the basement. Very warped and sketchy. There wasn't any light, but I used the flash on my camera to get a couple snaps. Not too exiting.

Last but not least, the top floor. A fire was set in the top floor by some local hooligans. This is the main reason for a lot of the damage and the eventual fate of the house. I didn't wander around too much because I didn't trust the integrity of the place.

The very last picture is my favourite. Creepy door for sure.

Anyway, hope this is a nice walkthrough of this house. Let me know if I've over-pictured, or left out any details!

Neat place you got here. It's quite the house i must say. Would of been beautiful in it's day. The view out the windows is amazing!

Damn that asshat vandal for torching the place. Doesn't matter where you live nowadays kids have nothing better to do than torch abandoned places. Pisses me off greatly.

Anyways, glad i stumbled upon this....very cool! Thanks for sharing the pictures.

It's a small window behind you as you walk up the stairs. You can see it in the second picture from the outside. Not sure why it is there, maybe for light as you climb the stairs. Maybe it would open and they could hoist a flag where the antenna is now?

the amount of windows on homes used to be a symbol of wealth so, it might have been added for that reason.

I actually didn't know that, interesting fact. I'll keep that in mind the next time I'm out past Jeddore.

Yeah, it dates back to the British 'Window Tax' - you STILL see some older buildings in the UK with fake painted on windows, for that reason.

Chris...

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit.
