Lime Kilns - Hurstville Iowa

Stopped and snapped a few of the old lime kilns right off of route 61 near
Hurstville Iowa. Sign said it went through 100 cords of wood per day and made 1000 barrels of lime per week. I imagine working here was a hot miserable job.

Anyway to get inside the place?
Looks cool, I used to live over in Clinton but never knew that was there. Judging by the summers we had when I lived there, I'm sure it was a pretty crappy job!

MOD- move to Great Lakes area?

Go Cubs go! Hey Chicago what do you say...

There was a security grating torn off one kiln but I didn't go inside I had just pulled off to get some quick pics. I'm not sure how large the interior is.
