I need a house in NS

I drove down to Antigonish to revisit a site that I had photographed a couple years ago only to find some charred wood and a foundation. I was sad because that was one of the best houses I had been to.

Does anyone know of any others around? PM me with info. There's a couple guys on here who can vouche for me. Feel free to come along for the ride if you like!

Consider Mr. Getson vouched for.

Houses don't do anything for me so I tend not to look at them and thus have no knowledge of falling down houses.. :/

In my experience: you see one house, you've seen them all.

Unless it's massive, I don't pay any attention.

The outside, sure. But it's the inside and the contents that intrigue me. For me, it's all about the good photos, not so much the simple exploration. If it was that, I'd obviously love something bigger and better...like Teleglobe.

Are you talking the Teleglobe building on the Eastern shore? roughly 15 minutes outside of Sheet Harbour?

There's actually no TeleGlobe on the Eastern Shore (I know because I live on the ES), what you're thinking of is CANTAT-2. TeleGlobe is on the South Shore, about 20 minutes past Bridgewater.
He's saying that if he just wanted to do simple exploration, he would check out places as big as say TeleGlobe or the RC.

For the record, there is this active Teleglobe site out near Sambro.

It may be the CANTAT-2 station but it is or was -- whichever the case may be -- Owned or operated by Teleglobe, this I'm 90% sure of because I grew up 10 minutes down the road from it and was on a tour of the facility once when I was 9-ish. It's a huge building, I'm not sure if it's still active or not, as far as I know it's not. I haven't really stopped to check it out in years.

The facility itself was massive, and unless they've gutted it, housed a lot of ancient telephone equipment if memory serves me correctly, again it was a very long time ago.

But I could very well be wrong, like I said, I'm only 90% positive. I'll actually be in Sheet Harbour this weekend, I think I'll check it out along with some other spots that I know of around the area that might make for some good UER.

Edit:

In 1974, Beaver Harbour (neighbouring community to Sheet Harbour) was selected as the site for the
CANTAT 2 trans‐Atlantic cable station operated by Teleglobe. A few years ago, this facility was
decommissioned and it remains vacant. It is a well built facility that could be redeployed as a data
centre or other similar facility.

found this in
http://www.greater...heet%20harbour.pdf

Looks like it's still Vacant, I think I just might scout it out.

Might be worth a look in you're in the neighbourhood but I'm quite sure the building is locked up and secure.

Every single place you go is different and can make interesting photos or exploration, the contents of the house, the various stages of rot and decay in the walls and ceilings.

My point is: I don't have any real interest in houses. The whole Eastern Shore is littered with abandoned houses.

I agree.. I think houses are so interesting because people lived and spent their life there. So many stories, I just can't help but wonder who lived there, what their story was and why it ended up abandoned. Homes are definately my number one followed by hospitals and then I think those old huge hotels would be third, but I've never explored one before. Everything else is just kind of like bonus rounds.

Abandoned homes just seem so fucking tragic.

If you're big into houses then, I can show you a few down my way...between my place and Ecum Secum, there's probably about 80 run down and abandoned houses.
I'm not saying I won't check out a house. I'm saying I won't if it doesn't look interesting.

There's one place in East Chezzetcook, probably about a 10-15min. walk into the woods (first house I ever explored) basically untouched with the exception of a smashed in window. The one I entered into the DB. There's also a couple others right off the main road.
