Marked no tresspassing areas

So I know that UE is pretty much always trespassing, BUT, what do you do in a case where a location is clearly marked with No Trespassing in multiple places with different types of signs.

Does this usually mean that they keep a closer eye on it? are the consequences higher for trespassing when there is a sign? or does this just mean be more careful getting in and dont walk in the front door lol.

Thanks from a n00b!!!!

The more signs there are (and the larger the signs are), the less likely you are to run into the landowner.

ALSO... I don't know where you are, but here in Virginia if there isn't a "No Trespassing" sign, you're not breaking the law.

In MA, even if there are no signs you can be charged with trespassing.

What kind of construction equipment? If there are things like lumber sitting out there, it's in their best interests to have security.

little bulldozers and such, nothing huge at all and from what i can see no materials at all ( so far all they are doing is digging in an old field across the street)

Down here in Canada, if you enter a place with signs at all, you can be charged with trespassing. If there are signs on the place, you can be charged. You kinda have to be a Ninja when exploring in Canada!

It just tends to work that way. If you have actual security, why bother with signs? Everyone can see the guy wandering around. Same with 'BEWARE OF DOGS!!!' signage: Real dogs bark and jump on the fence, so they don't need advertising. Obviously you should be cautious, but it's a good rule of thumb. If a fence has No Trespass signs closer than about 50' they're not very confident in their ability to do anything but scare you away.

The #1 reason, IMO, is if you do get caught, then depending on your state laws, the landowner can easily press charges. Also, for some, just seeing it is a deterrent for then, even more so if it has some other literature on the sign, like a statute number, or my favorite "Criminal Trespass".

I've seen some signs in my travels that have a phone # on them.

in WA state (where i am) sign or no sign it doesnt matter. The law states that to be on someone elses property knowingly without leaving is criminal trespass 2 and to be in a building of someone elses knowinly without permission is criminal trespass 1

Given your circumstance, can't you pretend you can't read them?

I think I passed about 3-5 "No Trespassing" signs up to the jail...along with at least one at a few locations I've visited...

No matter where you are, if it's not your property, you're trespassing.

So technically you can be charged for standing in front of sign or a building with a sign on it even if you don't go in the building or go past the sign?

That would be lame. Luckily in AK if there's no signs or obvious measures to keep people out then it's all good, just keep an eye out for locals though.

Only if the police can find the property owner AND they want to press charges. This, of course, is only if you enter a building. If there isn't a "no trespassing" sign on the property, you can walk around on the grounds all day unless someone with authority over the property asks you to leave.

Also. Anyone who the owner of the property has asked to watch over the property.

Neighborhood Watch Weenies can call the cops on you for being "suspicious" for walking down the side of the street at the wrong time of day/night.
