| | | You can dig and go under the field instead. Just eat the dirt like a worm does.

| | | I'd be more worried about ticks and chiggers and such than snakes. Either way, wear some boots and long pants. Carry a hiking stick and keep it in front of you. Snake should go for the stick first if it is feeling frisky. If not, you have your boots/pants to help protect you. All else fails and you do get bit, keep calm and get to a hospital ASAP.

| | | Walk slow, stomp feet, carry a stick and place it in front as you walk, and don't step on rocks, piles of wood, logs, or whatever, and watch for holes. In short, just watch were you walk. Most people get bit because they do not give the snake a chance to get away and sometimes they pin the snakes down by stepping on them. It's rattlesnake country out here.

| | | Posted by PhotoSeeker I'm no expert on snakes, but as I understand it, they feel vibrations in the ground, and are more prone to leaving than fighting. So... STOMP.
|
Yeah, this is the way to go. My parents now live in Arizona and when I visit them, I explore a lot (there's a BUNCH of stuff out there). Anyhow, there are a lot of snakes too. Stomping and using a walking stick in front of you as you go. Oh yeah, and wear jeans and boots.
