So I do a lot of outdoors type stuff like backpacking and I have climbed a quite a few 14'ers in my day. So as a result of spending all this time out past the front range I have stumbled across a fair number of old abandoned wooden mining structures and I have always had the desire to explore them. Anyway, I was wondering how dangerous they are and if anyone had explored anything similar to what I am describing? I mean obviously you should use common sense and such but where would you guys draw the line adn simply say, "that isn't worth it"?

Generally for me, as soon as the structure gives way to wood supported mine shaft, I'm outta there. Structure should to be assessed on a location by location basis some of it's still in pretty good shape.
