How did the chicken cross I-25?

...under it through the storm drain, of course! This was Novemberico's idea, so he can reveal the location or not (in Denver)...just a couple of pics from the other day.

I had not been more than a hundred yards up any kind of drain, so this was pretty cool. I think we made it about a half-mile before we got bored with the endless brick tube.

Mmmm...sexy brick drains.

That's a fun drain! The brick part is neat, but you're right it does go on for what seems like forever! Denny, I just sent you a message about exploring up in out neck o' the woods.

That drain has a weird affinity for dead animals. Last time I went it was a possum (named "Fluffy", of course. We 'ardly knew 'im!).

Any signs of homeless habitation to report?

Oh we've got the best. ;) But really, Denver does have some quite nice drains. We're pretty lucky here.

Yeh, went in there last summer (without realizing it was the dragon tunnel, I'd observed it on gmaps). Smelled like a CSO, there was gross as hell stinkmud and the visible gas freaked my partner. So we hightailed it out.

Edit: we went in about 300–500 meters I'd estimate. So not far enough to get to the steam inlet. Had we known it was the dragon tunnel, we might've stuck it out.

WELL apparently I need to start doing some drain research. I won't be one of the bums who asks for freebies. I'll do some work, try to find something, and let you all know if I get into one. I'm feeling pretty excited about the possibilities. I've already spotted a few drains, just need to get moving...

Ah, its been awhile since I've heard any news of The Gallery. This place was once known as Phantom Creek because of the larger sections usual lack of any kind of flow. I renamed it The Gallery a few years ago, because when the tag-scene exploded in Denver those guys found their way into this drain. I'm torn about it. Many of the tags are sweet, but their location annoys me. In my opinion most forms of tagging ruin the atmosphere in drains, mines and caves. The Aussies would strongly disagree, but meh, that's how I feel.

I've also wondered what about this drain attracts carcasses. We found a dead cat in the portion under I-25 years back. Weird.

Take a glance into the past... before the tags...

Oh, and what is with that grate? That's new. Trying to keep them homeless folk out? Man, this place is crowded with 'em in the summertime!

The grate was put up during DNC, my guess is because it goes under Cuernavaca Park (where Tent State was) and I25. They didn't want terrorists going in there.

or bums. they didn't like those during DNC either.
