| | | Hello guys, I just registered on this forum a few weeks ago while I was still in Québec, but since I'll be in Nova Scotia for at least a few months I thought I might as well try to make some UE friends so I wouldn't have to explore all by myself. You probably noticed already but english isn't my first language so please be understanding regarding all the grammar errors and ambiguities you're about to see! Since there wasn't any proper ''introduce-yourself-kind-of-post'' I thought I should create one. So here I am. I have been exploring abandoned buildings alone for the last 6 months given the fact that my longtime UE partner and I went different ways. My last solo exploration dates back to november and I am really starting to feel the urge to pull my camera out of its bag again. There seem to be quite a few interesting decayed buildings in NS from what I can tell; most of them caught my eye when I was on a train or in somebody's car (unfortunately, not everyone likes to stop to check out abandoned buildings...) and unlike most of the people, I don't own a car nor even a driver's license! Winter's not the best season for exploration but there are several advantages to it..such as exploring areas usually flooded! So, let me know whenever you guys feel like going for a little infiltration. I am always (almost!) willing and ready... will split gas costs. One more thing... I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the condo project at the Windsor Textile Mill? I couldn't help but notice that beautiful building last week when my brother and I drove past it...and he told me the project has been on hold for a while...I found a couple of articles on the internet from 2007, so my guess is there hasn't been any renovation work since then.

| | | I lived in the valley for a year and I don't think I ever saw anyone working on that place; so you make a good point in that it probably stalled. Wish I would have thought of that. Anyway, it doesn't look that good, but you got to take what you can get in the valley.

| | | I found this place on the Fundy side of North Mountain, an old slaughter house of some sort. Can't remember the name of the road it's on, but it's in a place called Love Place Corner, up near Canada Creek and Black Rock.

| | | Did you take any pictures of that ''slaughterhouse''? Does the building look like it has been abandoned for a longtime? Is it in good condition? Is it huge? So many questions! Anyways, I think Navi23 is right...we have got to take what we can get in the valley! I seems to me that the place might have some potential. Here's the ''official'' internet site of the condo project at the old Windsor Textile Mill: http://www.millisl...a/renovations.html Although new windows and patio doors have been installed, I am pretty sure one of the boarded-up windows we can see on the pictures would be an easy way-in. The interior looks rather empty... but open areas like that along with rustic wooden beams and arched windows can provide a variety of beautiful scenes.

| | | Thanks for the pictures nootz! I don't know much about slaughterhouses but I am guessing the fenced areas used to be the ''killing stalls''...Here's my advice to vegetarian people: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

| | | Funny thing is, we only found this place by accident. Driving along some back road on the far side of North Mountain, and this is what we find: some crazy slaughter house with a cut-in-half school bus flipped on its side.

| | | There's plenty of places around, and chances are, they've all been explored in once sense or another. And to a certain extent. But I've only been to two locations down there so far, although I know of a few.

| | | Although unexplored places are known to be hard to find, I keep wishing I'll discover one someday! It may sound utopic, but I don't think it is. It's pretty much like the Holy Grail of urban explorers! Actually, I did find an office building once that was incredibly ''untouched''...no broken windows, no graffiti and apparently no signs of vandalism. The only thing worth mentioning was the thick layer of dust everywhere. I would have totally walked barefoot on the commercial carpet without being afraid of stepping on a nail...! The 2-story building was of a decent size with a basement (with boxes full of archives, i'm not lying!) and a really nice high-ceiling attic. I returned to that place 3 times because it was very quiet and the lighting was also very good.

| | | Sounds interesting, but honestly, it's actually not very uncommon to find places outside the cities/towns. I know down on the Eastern Shore where I am, I've found at least three or four places that nobody's even known about.
