Van Briggle building (soon to be no more)

The Van Briggle building is nearing demolition nowadays, windows are gone and they've ripped out most of the internals, so if anyone wants a look now's the time. The structure was originally the turntable building for the narrow guage railway that used to run from cripple creek to the cyanide leeching pit at 21st street in the springs (the leeching pit which is currently the site of a housing development...mmm...cyanide). In any case, it's not huge, but it's not gonna be around for long either, probably worth a quick visit if you're nearby.

edit: I dropped by on the way to the bank, and rather than demolishing it, it seems they're re-securing the foundations, so I'm not sure what is going to be put there.

Is there anything in it, or is it gutted?

I'll know by the end of Thursday evening... I plan to take a look after I get out of college classes.

It's pretty much gutted, just construction tools left for the most part.

Looks like it's getting a makeover. It's quite nice to see the building as it is, still up and standing. Found a couple new (promising) drains nearby, so a nice scout trip was had today.

Yup... Also noted a large 8x8 ft RCT near 21st, and a small headwall further down. The small headwall might be hiding something nice.... Can't tell just yet. Got a system up @ Cache la Poudre and shooks run i'm working out. I'm still trying to track down that rumor of stone drains in colorado springs

Stone drains, eh? I think you'd do well to start looking between 21st and Weber, especially along and near Colorado Avenue. If I remember correctly that was the main body of the original town, and it would make sense that when drainage was added it would be stone.

Noted. I'll give it a look when the weather is nice again.
