My first critique post, was feeling brave.

These were taken straight on with an older Panasonic Lumix camera, not sure what settings etc as I am still trying to learn all of that. I just picked a icon, and shot away. These were set on the black and white setting on the camera however not converted afterwards or anything and I haven't done anything to them in photoshop which is probably pretty easy to tell seeing as they're not the greatest
Anyway this is my first critique post, any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If these are too big I'll resize.
Thanks,
Joe

I took the one below when I was visiting some of my living an "non living" relatives when I went back home to Massachusetts this past September. I just thought this one came out kind of cool. I hope it's "urban" enough. This was on the warm setting, in color on the camera.

3 and 4 are really great. 1 needs to be straightened, 2...the foreground and background are sort of conflicting subjects...old and new....and it just doesn't really do it for me...the background is too boring, 5's just...meh...not bad not thrilling.

The last one is actually well done too. NIce colors. I would shoot it vertical and zoom in a bit to focus more on one or two stones though. That would make the stones a bit more prominent.

Hey thank you very much for the replies! That's very cool of you to do so! I'll get better at this photography thing I'm sure. I've been reading up on it a lot lately, this place is very inspiring! Thanks again for the suggestions!!

If you'll notice, three is just oh-so-slightly tilted down to the right. I've got similar problems with that - for some reason my corridor shots nearly always tilt the same way. Tripods help there, even during the day, to help you keep things level.

Maybe this is just personal taste, but I usually like photos (especially urban) slightly underexposed. I'm not sure about your camera, but there should be a setting for an automatic exposure bias. It'll look something like EV -1...or something like that.

Me too. Photoshop is great for fixing that.

Hey guys thanks for the replies! I've been screwing around in the Pacific Southwest Forums and hadn't been back here in a bit. There's a lot of forums here!! haha! I will look for that setting. Anyone know how come sometimes the photos come out grainy? I do have a tri-pod too and will bring it along next time
Thanks!
Joe
