| | | I discovered this site just outside of Tucson, AZ, in the Santa Rita Mountains. I found a surprising amount of untouched history. The town of Helvetia was founded in 1899, and was abandoned in the 1920's. There are hundreds of mines and ruins around this site, and I have much more exploring to do. If anyone wants directions, let me know, this site is fairly public knowledge. PS. Entering an abandoned mine is VERY dangerous, and I cannot recommend it. NEVER explore mines by yourself and wear a helmet. In fact, you probably should just stay away from mines.1.

| | | We live off old Helvetia Mine Road. I was planning a mountain bike trip up to the mine this weekend, but all the mountains around Tucson, and our house, got snowed in. Such an oddity.

| | | Yeah seriously, it's 32 degrees right now in Tucson. All this rain and snow has prevented me from exploring.
