| | | Hey guys, pretty new to Urban Exploring but I've been scoping some places out for a while, particularly the abandoned building at 51st ave. and Glendale. I remember when I was young my grampa told me it used to be a sugar-beet factory; then I find out later it was turned into a whore house of sorts and then, nothing. Would love to head inside, from what I could tell pretty minimal security, although that hood is filled with meth, gangs and other undesirables (myself included) ;) Any help would be appreciated!

| | | I have been down to check out the sugar beet factory a couple of times on my way to the Glendale Swap Meet. You absolutely cannot miss that giant brick structure towering over the area, which somehow manages to look ominous and scary even during midday. I found it to be locked up very tight, and the boiler house is now in use as an auto body repair shop. Here is a link to a website which has more on the history of the sugar beet factory than you ever wanted to know: http://molokane.or...s/Arizona/Noon.htm
If you are looking for the Lost Dutchman Mine, I wish you the best of luck because you'll need it. People have been looking for that for over a hundred years. You might try in Lost Dutchman State Park near Apache Junction. You can also visit the Dutchman's grave in Downtown Phoenix and see if he sends you any signals from beyond the grave LOL. http://www.mcdonal...z/graves.htm#waltz

| | | I might have to check that place out! Sounds like a cool location. If you go let us know how it turns out. And man would I love to find the Lost Dutchman mine. Everytime I go backpacking in the superstitions I look for some clues! lol. People have been looking for that thing since the Dutchman died. No so much these days, but it's popularity spikes every now and then. My uncle used to tell me stories about people living in the Superstitions during the 70's and pushing rocks off cliffs and whatnot trying to scare people out of there so they wouldn't find the mine before them.

Yeah, I'm really gonna try going in there, in fact I have been wanting to since I was about 12, I guess it only took me 13 years to get off my lazy ass and get to it, lol! I'll also try and post some pics, hopefully I can tackle it this weekend!

Yea, it's not anything like that anymore. My wife and I go on overnight backpacking trips there all the time. We've never encountered anybody we would consider hostile.
