They had an opportunity to catch an arsonist, and didn't even have a security guy on site. Or he was sleeping in his car or engrossed in a um, magazine or Googling something. I could be wrong, but that's how it kinda appears. Dang.

Prior to Wednesday's fire, the Onni Group of Companies was locked in a battle with New Westminster City Hall over how much of the century-old heritage site should be preserved in its development plan.
But as authorities start to sift through the wreckage for clues about how the fire started, it now appears that only a small section of the former insane asylum will be preserved.
Wednesday's inferno, which could be seen from CTV's Chopper 9 helicopter, is the latest in a series of fires to have damaged an abandoned building that had become a target for metal thieves and squatters. "

it wouldn't surprise me to learn that onni either allowed her to burn or set it themselves. demolition by arson. i'd expect, no, demand an inquiry into that.

Thank you for the correction. Damn glad I was wrong. Am still sick about this, (quite possible as Impreza suggests) corporate sleezeball arson for hire while the cops are at Timi Ho's scene. Facadism can be a decent way to save the look of a building, but they usually get to build a tower behind.
This could have happened here. I smell a corporate rat, the filthiest of all. Just spent 40mins waiting for telus to pick up, fkrs never did, survey?, yah, I'll take yer survey... ha ha lol ha . Essondale lives! So Good.
Great that many noble explorers experienced Woodlands, and there are lots of photos.
